I’m bummed. I was always a supporter, and our offense is the best it has been since the Manziel days.

he is a good recruiter. Elko took over making the DC calls this season after last season's shite show under Bateman.

Who did they play? ND had like 50 points (and wins if the tackle on the DL is called).

41 is two scores away from 50, and there is no guarantee ND would have won if the holding had been called. 4th and goal from the 21 is well within TD range.

I love it when folks point to ND needing not one but two holding calls to call back TD's that had no impact on the actual play in order to beat A&M on that last possession to win. Of course forget about the other 12 penalties on A&M, many of which were very weak and killed drives. Forget about non calls on ND of course.

Most of all forget about A&M making the play they needed to make right in front of their student section.

Well, he called the defense last year, and Elko took over play calling this year. But you knew that I guess.

Charlie Strong makes $2 million a year as a defensive line coach in the NFL. We were never going to get him.

Bateman is a good coach and excellent recruiter but he lost his playcalling duties and Elko is basically replacing him with his clone. It's a win/win where Bateman gets to leave with dignity and a chance to do things his way while Elko gets to replace him with his disciple that will run the D just like he wants. I could see him doing well at Kentucky but it's also the better move for A&M.

Maybe, but he was also stubborn AF about play calling in key situations. Short yardage was FAR TOO OFTEN a case of mind-numbingly predictable dives into the center or a gimmicky thing involving a long lateral throw. Slants, fades, or any kind of run to the perimeter was very rarely part of the plan to keep the defense guessing. So many tools, and he took most of them out of consideration in these situations.

If he would fix that one thing, it would have been almost perfect.

Good luck to Coach Bateman. Stein needed somebody with experience.

But Elko is running the defense now, so promoting from within makes a lot of sense.

Regarding OC, coach Klein did some really good things, no doubt. But he absolutely clinched up in the Texas game and the Auburn game. Those were the best two defenses we faced.

I’m looking forward to seeing more emphasis on the running game against Miami.

Not at A&M, never landed a top 125 recruit while there.

Bucs fans want Bowles gone, so it'd likely depend on who they bring in if he gets canned and whether Strong stays in Tampa. But he's not coming here for less than DC.

How does this have 8 down votes lol. If you 8 are not Aggies how many of you have spent a weekend in CS?

Bet less than 1/3 because while they are nice folks and have country living there is nothing to do in CS except support ATM.

And that being more than just RPO after RPO where everybody in the stadium knows Reed is handing off.

So many tools at their disposal, and he uses them well when things are rolling. When it stalls, though, he just turtles.

Hey we were paying a Tight Ends coach 2 mil

Ok 1.5 but close enough. It hit 2 with incentives

I read he got demoted from calling plays this year

If he runs Elko's system, then it's probably still a decent hire.

It’s the very definition of a college town, and at a university with well-above-average amenities and events.

Is it Austin or Nashville, with ubiquitous live music, upscale restaurants, and other trappings of a large, affluent city (even if they didn’t have significant schools)? No. Then again, point us to another SEC school outside a large city that you believe offers more than College Station does.

For that matter, spend a weekend in Ann Arbor, State College, Tallahassee, Clemson, or South Bend and let us know what enthralled you that had nothing to do with the local uni.

Hell, step outside the gate at West Point and you might as well be in Booondock, Maine. Nothing at all there to attract you.

Most people don’t base college choices on how much the local town provides jollies.

It’s almost always Austin people making this claim, as if the presence of UT is the only thing that provides Austin with all its amenities. Let’s completely forget about the state capital and a massive technology base.

You couldn’t be more wrong.

I grew up in one of the country’s biggest cities and have a pretty good handle on various locales. I also spend a ton of time in College Station and God-willing, will land there permanently in the future. Claiming “there’s nothing to do but root for A&M” is what you say when your entire exposure to the area is message-board memes or a six-hour game-day fly-by.

CS has a range of great bars, live music, fantastic food, outdoor escapes, and friendly Texas culture—none of which you’d notice from the parking lot. It’s not a large metro, but pretending that any place without soul-crushing traffic and $25 drinks is a wasteland is peak burnt-orange nonsense.

It’s booming and is way more than just the university. My biggest concern is that its rate of growth will continue.
