I know several men who went to officers training school, that was located on the campus of aggy during World War II, and while the officer training school was on the campus, like several other college campus during the war, they never went to Texas a+m, and they said they were never aggy. So you can’t claim them as officers from a+m

How the hell old are you? 105? Your story sounds made up.

I obviously don't know whether the 'sip actually KNEW someone who participated in that training, but the story about TAMC being used to train non-students during WW2 is 100% true.

He need not be 105 years old to have known such a person. I am in my fifties and knew my grandfather quite well for decades as an adult. He graduated TAMC in 1937 ... BEFORE the described events.

That color of uniform is called "pink" for some odd reason. It was the standard color for the US Army during WW2, and A&M started using it at that time. This combination is called "pinks and greens." See the pants:

Thanks for the info.

1. The Return Of Pinks And Greens To The Army

quote:

In 2018, the U.S. Army announced that a new version of the World War II “pinks and greens” uniform will be instated as the new everyday dress uniform. The first prototypes of this uniform revival were showcased at the Association of the United States Army’s annual meeting in 2017. The final version of the uniform is intended to be a historically accurate representation of General George C. Marshall’s uniform. Marshall served in the position of Army Chief of Staff during the Second World War.

quote:

The Army began issuing the new pinks and greens, known officially as Army Greens, in 2020. The Army Greens, featuring updated khaki-colored pants and a green jacket, will become the new service uniform by 2028. This means that Army Greens will be the everyday business-wear uniform, mandatory for all soldiers in 2028.

quote:

Is This Army Uniform Actually Pink And Green? The Army “pink and green” uniform does not actually feature any pink at all. However, there is a very slight pinkish tone to the taupe khaki trousers and skirts worn as part of the traditional-looking uniform.

quote:

4. Origin Of “Pinks And Greens” Term The “pinks and greens” nickname for the Army uniform of World War II was a colloquial term originated by the soldiers at that time. World War II soldiers started this nickname for the uniform because one of the sets of pants had a slightly pink hue, which was paired with a dark green coat. The pinks and greens were worn during the Korean War as well as World War II.

quote:

The original pinks and greens uniform was developed between World War I and World War II. It was a variant of the Army officer’s service uniform, which featured a dark green coat and matching colored, “olive drab,” trousers. In 1924, an alternate option of trousers was offered in a contrasting taupe color, eventually displacing the olive drab pants. The pinks and greens uniform was deauthorized for active duty, reserve, and National Guard officers between 1958 and 1959. It was replaced by “Class A” service uniforms, worn by all ranks.

As Leach's team raced onto the field, he gazed into the stands filled with screaming fans and wondered about the several thousand "cadets" from Texas A.&M. clustered in one end zone. They wear military uniforms and buzz cuts, holler in unison and stand at attention the entire game. "How come they get to pretend they are soldiers?" he asked. "The thing is, they aren't actually in the military. I ought to have Mike's Pirate School. The freshmen, all they get is the bandanna. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."

If you have an ROTC scholarship, which about half do, you’re essentially in the military from that point forward.

The people that do it for fun I’ll never understand, but I guess their friends are in it?

Wtf does this mean? Is this like calling yourself a "public ivy"

If you're not in a group, you're not in the group. ATM is not a military academy. Just get over it, stop trying to lump yourself in with your betters

It’s an actual legal term. There are 6. A&M, Norwich, VMI, Citadel, Virginia Polytechnic, & North Georgia. All offer military Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).

I wonder how many of the folks calling the Corps fake soldiers actually spent a day in uniform?

Actually it was my father and his friends who went to officers training, that was on the a+m campus. They all said they never went to school at a+m, just to office training, which was on campus, like several other colleges around the country at that time. Point is, they never were aggy.

I actually the alternative uniform

It doesn't really seem to match the actual cadet uniform color though?

Probably could have done a bit better

The "white pads" are not pads at all. It is just a fabric in the riding pants. Only seniors were the riding pants and boots.

Going to have to give them credit for having a Rebel (national) flag up on the wall.
