its objectively hilarious how it only took 5 years for texas to go "we will never schedule A&M in any athletic event ever again" to "holy shite, we really need to get A&M on the schedule" and theyve sky screamed for 5 years over it and we just shut them down at every turn

its truly humorous
It would be humorous if that was actually true. Unfortunately, that is only the reality on texags.com

The actual reality is: this will be an offseason topic every offseason until the game is played or 15 more years have passed. Until then, there's always going to be a writer that's going to bring it up in July when they don't have anything to talk about to get the two sides to scream at each other in the comments section or twitter.

Texas fans (not according to texags.com) want the game to be played because it was an interesting rivalry game played on thanksgiving every year. It was a lot of fun and those games were/are what college football is all about. If it ends up happening again - great. If not - who cares? Texas has got plenty of other big games. But yea, when it's a topic like it always is, it has never been because "OMG Texas just can't live without us rough tough, real stuff Texas A&M aggies. They know we're the biggest name they could ever have and could only BE so lucky." That is the opposite of the truth.

The truth is, Texas has more teams that consider it a rival than just about anybody in college football. A&M has nobody that considers them their biggest rival. Literally nobody, not even us. Texas plays three power 5 opponents from the state every season. A&M plays zero power 5 opponents from the state of Texas.

So they like to perpetuate that we're pining for them, when in reality, we bring up that it'd be fun to play again, but we're pretty booked in advance and are fine without it also.

Also - have any of you on this board met any aggies? They're fricking weird. Like realllllly fricking weird. They have to use nicknames for you, sing entire songs about you (when you're not playing them), and have these bizarre-arse traditions that do not make sense to anybody (including things like only having 5 male cheerleaders, jizz jars, "hump it ags", friday night pep rallies, etc.). It's honestly like being in high school summer church camp for your 4 college years. If your high school were a cult.

Trust me - if you ask any of the big 12 opponents how much they miss being around that, they'd tell you they're glad the aggies are someone else's problem.

Jim Rome (albeit, is a huge douche) sums it up pretty well

There are no intricacies. Tamu was always 3rd most important on the schedule for decades for UT. Once Arkansas bolted I'd call them 2b or 3a. Freaking afterthought.
They're an also ran for 100 years and continue their turdition. Will try and grab coattails as they can. Smack them on their arse and kick 'em like a dumb dog.

When was the last time aggy had back to back conference winning seasons in football?

why does texas constantly beg A&M to give them a game? could it possibly be that texas realized every other year the home schedule is a total black hole?

Yet putting 95k+ in the stands constantly? And that "black hole" that kicked your arse so bad you ran away after 16 years?

Thanks for not answering my question. By not answering - you basically gave me the exact answer all at the same time.

LSU eats, sleep and shits about this Rivalry. LSU starts a Texas A&M - Texas rivalry thread at least 5 times a month for the last 10 years. Why is that? Why do LSU fans jack off about the thought of this rivalry?

A discussion about the Texas-A&M rivalry, and you’re the first poster (on page 4 mind you) to make this about LSU.

I think lots of people care about the rivalry. It’s good for CFB. So is the Backyard Brawl. So is ND-Michigan. So is the Border War. Nebraska had a couple ones with OU and Colorado.

Rivalries are good for the sport.

you think this matters

texas has a huge fanbase that will show up to games regardless. point is yall only have a sellout every other year and there are multiple games were "92k" is probably more like 80k.

whereas at A&M you can pretty much bet we will have multiple 100k+ turnouts cause between the way the SEC rotates and our OCC, we are guaranteed at least two or three games that are interesting

you actually think this isnt a problem to the UT athletic department
