Apparently they have a wrongly accused rapist on their team who is playing with someone who can be scammed by twitter pal. That is a lot of bad luck for the Lucky Irish.

I think we're supposed to be high 30s tomorrow. It'll be warm (40s) for a couple of days, then back to frigid over the weekend. Bleh. At least I saw the sun today though!

Don't forget the bad luck of that video platform falling down in 50 mph winds. To be so connected to jeebus, he really seems to hate the Irish.

If this ends up as a case of him being gullible, even if he lied, embellished about how they met...it is beyond awful.

I hope it is too and it's not hard at all for me to believe he started an internet relationship being Mormon in South Bend considering it's very important in the LDS church to marry a fellow mormon. Can't imagine how big the LDS community is in Notre Dame but I'm going to say it's behind the southern baptists.

How soon is this made into a movie?

And what are the odds they get the Rock to play Manti Te'o?

This is what I don't understand. What in the frick would make someone want to create a story like this? Did they never think that it would be found out

Well, I can think of a few reasons he would want people to think he had a girlfriend. None of them are very flattering or command masculinity.

The other thing that just sort of dawned on me is that IF it was more sinister and fabricated, one of the only things that could explain it away would be catfishing. So, if I were cynical, I would say that they did stuff knowing how they would explain it away while they were doing it.

Um... he was probably worried about what the LDS would think alright...

He and this Tuiasosopo dude had something going on, and this "girlfriend" sock was part of it. When he started getting Heisman buzz this year, she died either:

a) for the sympathy vote (coincidentally -- not planned before the season)
b) so Te'o wouldn't have to produce his long-time girlfriend for the awards circuit.

I don't think he ever intended for "her" to become the story it did; I think he and this Tuiasosopo would have been fine with it all staying on the down low...

There aren't many people who could explain this away even if was the plan the whole time. Lying about a dead girlfriend...good luck selling that.

Maybe they wanted it to last until the draft, thinking the PR would lead to a bigger payday and endorsements?

I can understand them not coming public afte the 26th.
1) If he was in on it...obvious they would keep it quiet
2) If he was victim.....keep an investigation quiet.

Report that he got a phone call from the girl he thought was his deceased GF...if that call was made from a phone # registered to an individual the truth will easily be found out. I seriously doubt they would be dealing with a person able to hold up to questioning...

I am stil at the point I could believe either explanation...

Bizarre but fitting end to a fantasy season for the Dame.

What a crock of shite and the idiot media dove right in.

Irish Envy is absolutely classic right now. Even better than during what passed for a football game a couple of weeks ago. They seem to be split into the following camps:

1) No way this is right. Deadspin is not a legitimate source. This will blow up in their face. Just another example of the jealousy and bias against ND.

2) He never really called her his GF. They were just internet friends and he was duped by a scammer. He is the victim.

3) We are so fricked. No one will ever let us hear the end of this. Why does this shite always happen to us? :cueblackhelicopters:

He just needs to come out of the closet and admit he made her up, to cover up the fact that he loves the cock. If he wants to rough the passer after some intentional grounding, then just say so.

Man, if only someone could invent some sort of video camera contraption where Teo could have, oh I dont know, chatted with video too his girlfriend, that could have saved him alot of trouble and heartache.
