I have been having heated debates with my Brother-in-Law about Tennessee as a program. He is a Michigan fan, he argued Tennessee was not a good program and we will never bounce back.

I know Tennessee is in a little rut right now, but I still think we are a Top-Tier S.E.C. program. The program has done a lot for this conference and was a big part of building it into what it has become today. With all the traditions, money, 100k stadium its only a matter of time before we bounce back.

Just wondering what you guys think.....Serious question.

I would argue that Tennessee is a second tier SEC program that's going through a down period right now.

Historically..yes. Im not so sure y'all should have fired Fulmer and you're paying the price. Kiffin and now Dooley. Dooley may turn out to be OK but i think he's way overrated.

But if you go by all-time and not just the past few years then yes...UT is a top tier SEC team.

Give Dooley time. He is the answer and y'all won't regret it.

Tenn has history that could have it seen as a top tier SEC team, but with the other schools in the SEC with more history of winning it is hard to clump them with the others. I would consider Tenn a 2nd tier team... Like I said though they are probably the top of that 2nd tier.

Doesn't UT have some very wealthy alumni in the corporate world? Money really doesn't seem to be an issue in Knoxville, especially regarding athletics.

I'd say you'll be back soon.

I think that now that you guys no longer have Kiffin and all of the negatives that he represents, and have replaced him with at least an honorable man in Dooley, you have a good chance to recover and challenge for the SEC title within 5 years. However, you still have a lot of thugs on your team that need culling as seen in the latest bar fight episode.

Kiffin damaged your program and would have continued to do so had he stayed. He is now right where he belongs at USC and you guys are much better off for it.

JMHO.

I think you should tell him to worry about his own program ever getting off the matt. Ask him when's the next time he thinks they'll beat Ohio State.

i think he's suffering from Michiganitis or RichRodotis... something like that. he's a moron if he believes Tennessee won't be a SUPERIOR competitor again. it's all in the swings man. you're in a downswing.

i think there are WAY more valid arguments that Michigan won't rise again than there EVER could be for UT.

I say Tennessee is historically in the top tier of SEC programs, but they are going through a rough period at the moment.

Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

All they need is the right coach, some improved facilities, and a good recruiting pitch and they will be back to competing for it all every year.

Again, sounds familiar, doesn't it...?

No program in the country has fallen further from grace than Michigan...it will take all of 4-5 years to recover from the Rodriguez years...that is if they fire him after this season...the longer he stays the deeper the hole...

Dooley is a class act and given a few years in the big time i feel he will prove to be an excellent coach. Tenn will be back sooner rather than later.

I'd have to agree 100%.

And unlike tOSU fans, which are literally everywhere, UM are few and far between seemingly. Even on the internet, I've seen maybe three total.

I've never, ever met a Michigan fan IRL. Can't remember the last time I saw someone wearing UM gear. And I'm talking TV and movies as well as IRL.

Historically of course Tennessee is up there. I think taking every single thing into account, UT is a top 12 program of all time. But they are in a serious rut right now. Haven't made any national noise since 2001, haven't won an SEC title since 1998, and look to have a terrible season this year. They're down right now, but as is the nature with any of the SEC's big 6 programs, they'll bounce back in due time.
