Definitely keep your brass. That may be the only way to get ammo in the future.

Someone commented that it is close to a 270 Win. Energy and velocity wise it is closer to a 7 Mag. Essentially it is a 6.5 mm Mag

243, 6.5 Grendel and 300 B/O are all great options. All can be had in the Ruger American Gen 2 or even Gen 1 rifles at very reasonable costs. That is what I would buy if I were shopping for an 8 year old and wanting to give him something he can use many years into the future

I killed my first big buck in Woodville on Jan 4 , 1985. Big mainframe 10 with 5 base stickers, 210 lbs and came out at 3 pm
I highly recommend that you find a gun range with guns to rent and shoot as many different ones as you can to find something that works for you as well as her. Don’t just take someone’s recommendation. Have her shoot 380 and 9 mm to find her recoil tolerance. Also find a semiauto that she can work the slide. Problem with a revolver is in the double action mode , the way it is intended to be shot, the trigger is very heavy and many women cannot pull the trigger. If you precook to single action mode now essentially you have a hair trigger setup. Many people do not realize this.
Nuss needs only to improve in 3 areas

1) don’t throw off back foot
2) step up into the pocket instead of retreating backwards where our tackles are blocking defenders
3) learn to run the football when the field is open ahead of him

Fix those 3 issues and he is All American

re: AAC 9mm 115 XTP Hollow Point

Hornady XTP hollow point is a good bullet that usually expands provided it is pushed fast enough. Numerous YouTube reviews show this. I have not seen any reviews on the AAC version but I would imagine it will be just as good as the Hornady loaded brand

Rings and eyes are made of stainless steel. Hooks are not so rust out quickly

Glock 19 $600
Moss berg 500 in 12 ga $400
Ruger American II in 308 $500
Ruger 10/22 rifle $300
Browning Buckmark 22 pistol $300
S&W AR 15 $600

And $50 to spare

Something like this list will cover most needs including practice

re: Gun goes off in restaurant.

when this happens, what is usually the cause is that the pistol is put in the purse where other items such as coins, keys, pens or other objects can get in the trigger guard and cause the trigger to be pulled when putting it down or brushing up against something. If using purse carry, the pistol should ideally be put in a pocket with nothing else that can enter the trigger guard or put in a dedicated holster that covers and protects the trigger guard so that this does not happen. Same goes for pocket carry.

re: Argentina Dove Hunt

Posted by jimbeaux82 on 2/19/24 at 8:30 am
I went about 15 years ago. I was not as mad at them as some are. I know guys who KILL 5000 doves per day but I did not do that. I made 6 hunts total. I limited myself to 500 shots per hunt and that was enough for me. I was shooting a 20 ga. So I bought and shot 3000 shells and killed almost exactly 2000 doves. That is about a 66% kill ratio. I asked the outfitter what was the best kill ratio he had ever seen and it was about 75%. BTW shells were $12/box back then.

Hope this helps and have a great hunt.
I had almost the exact thing happen to me last year. Kill a big deer and everyone is jealous and looking for a way to kick you out.
I have killed deer with over 20 different cartridges between 223 and 375 H&H. If you put the bullet in the right place they all work. Most people are best served with the mid cartridges such as 6.5 Cm, 7-08, 270, 308 or 30/06. Given we are subject to ammo shortages for various reasons, 308 is a great choice and ammo is almost always available especially since it is a military caliber (7.62x51).

Regarding specific rifles in your budget range, in the $500-600 range look at Ruger American Rifles, Howa 1500 or Savage 110. If you want to go a little higher look at Tikka and Bergara. Any of those will shoot better than you can.

As far as scopes go, I am a big fan of the Burris Fulfield II series which can be had for under $200. Or the Leupold Freedom series for around $300.

You don’t have to spend any more than that for a great combo that will kill any deer inside of 500 yards if you do your part
