UTenn is a top SEC program and top 15 in the country, imo. The vols will be back but its going to take a lot of rebuilding. I would like to have seen them hire a more established coach.. Dooley is a big gamble but it could definitely pay off in the long term. Just need the alumni and administration to stick with him for at least 3 or 4 years. Unless a top 5 head coach becomes available and wants the UT job they need to stick with Dooley. UT doesn't need any more staff turnover any time soon.

but with the other schools in the SEC with more history of winning it is hard to clump them with the others.

I'd say we're a top tier team who sucks at the moment. No doubt UT will bounce back, but it's going to suck until we do.

First off, frick Tennessee. Secondly, yeah, you guys are a top tier SEC program going through an ultra shitty time. Just because you hit a rough patch doesn't make you any less valuable to the SEC as a whole. It's just that you aren't worth a damn right now. That all could change very easily and I think that is one of the things that separates the top tier teams from the lower tier teams-- the ability to bounce back after some rough times. Been there, done that. But, like I said in my opening statement, frick Tennessee.

We've made it to Atlanta three times since 2001 that's more than Georgia, we just haven't been fortunate enough to win it.

We've also been there as recent as 2007

I know Tennessee is in a little rut right now, but I still think we are a Top-Tier S.E.C. program. The program has done a lot for this conference and was a big part of building it into what it has become today.

What have you done for the SEC lately? The fact is at the present time there are two top-tier SEC teams, teams that are at a level clearly above the other ten. The rest of us—including my team and yours—are trying to climb back up there.

You dumb shite. They've both been 3 times, I guess 3>3 in your world. Only thing is, we've actually won it twice, yall have won it...0!

I stand corrected you have been three times this decade, we've still been 7 times as opposed to three. We've just had coaches who couldn't win big games with far superior talent. Sounds like Georgia just with more success

I hope Dooley isn't as overrated as his dad was, or it will be a really long time before we pick things up.

I don't think what you did in the mid-90s means a hill of beans as it relates to the here and now. And for as many more times as yall have been than us, we've still both won the same amount. Talk about underachieving..

Trust me, no one gives a damn about 2002 or 2005, either.

I'm assuming this is bait, but I've said it on here 100 times I think Richt is better than Dooley. I don't think what Dooley did was THAT impressive when you really break it down. Fish on though.

Good to see you recognize Vince was wildly overrated. Really hope his kid is better, because it's going to take great to fix the program in the next few years.

Recruits can actually recall watching those games though. They were in elementary school the last time UT won it.

As opposed to being in middle school when Georgia won it? That would mean more if you didn't have to recruit against Florida, Alabama, and LSU.

I would argue that Tennessee is a second tier SEC program that's going through a down period right now.

Your fricking insane look at our all time record National Championships, SEC Titles, and overall record vs LSU and get back to me.

Agreed. Unless there's a tier for Bama only, we're not second tier historically.
