In 1998 lsu should have held off all their opponents and finished 10-1.

Dinardo would still be coaching lsu today

In all honesty we were lucky to lose only by 4 to Arkansas. We had no energy that game and Arkansas pretty much controlled the game especially in the 2nd half. Florida and Oklahoma should definitely be wins. Alabama was pretty evenly played but we missed some opportunities. I give Bama credit for that final drive though, they just made some tough plays.

I say we should be 5-2.

I think you need to learn the difference between could and should. This team could be undefeated. We should be about 4-3 or 5-2.

Butch Jones is the reason.

Florida and Oklahoma, absolutely. I'm not sure how anyone can blame Butch for the Alabama loss. I thought he coached a great game and had Tennessee very, very well prepared.

Dude. If games "could have won" meant anything SC would have had anther 10-win season last year, recruiting wouldn't have taken such a big hit, and Spurrier might still be our coach.

Gosh dammit ... I am going to be a down-voting MFer to every gosh damn Bama and Tennessee fan I see post shite like this until it stops.

South Carolina lost five games last year in which we led in the 4th quarter ... we could have been 11-2 again yada yada yada.

It's all bullshite. You never saw SCAR fans claiming moral victories ... we were just some pissed-off fans that we lost, frick the moral victories.

And frick the moral victors who claim the team they beat has four moral victories.

Poor coaching in the OU and UF games cost us those.

The team was uninspired against Arkansas.

Turned the corner against UGA

Depth killed us against Bama, lost key players on both sides of the ball.

Future looks bright.

All games tennessee could have won if they learn how to finish. If the defense held this team would be ranked top 5 in the country and going to Atlanta. The reason Florida is going instead is because of defense and the ability to finish.

Also, they could have won those games if games would just magically end once UT has a lead. They really should petition the league for that rule change.

obviously all that matters is scoreboard, but you can easily outplay your opponent and still lose.

2002 and 2003, Alabama outplayed OU, and lost.

2014 and 2015, Tennessee outplayed OU, and lost.

OU should have lost to Tennessee. OU played against Texas like they did against vs Tennessee, yet somehow OU made a miracle happen in Knoxville. That was more of Tennessee screwing up than Oklahoma putting together a comeback.

OU and UF were choke jobs by the staff. Definitely should have won those games. VOLS were clearly the better team in those games. Arkansas was a terrible performance by all involved. UGA probably should have beat us. Can't be too upset about Bama. I would say 5-2 is where we should realistically be but we are very close to being both 2-5 and 6-1.

A vocal minority of jackasses in our fanbase legitimately think we SHOULD be 7-0. Truth is, we're not decidedly better than any team we've lost to. On paper Bama should have won by 14-21, and we were winning with 3 min left. Our losses this year have been for a variety of reasons (including Butch for sure) but not exclusively him. And the record is worse than I expected at this point, but we couldn't have an easier path the rest of the way, and an 8-4 season would show progress.

A lot of teams could be undefeated if they didn't lose close games along the way. Unfortunately that's not how it works. Tennessee, as a team, is not a top 5 team in the country. Part of being a top 5 team is being good enough to hold onto leads. Also, fwiw, Tennessee never led against Arkansas the entire second half.
