When has Tenn represented the SEC out of conference?? Al i remember is blowout losses to UCLA, the ducks and now will be Oklahoma? nothing will change there

Cal in Knoxville in 2006 (was up 35-0 in the 2nd half). It's easy to rip on UT because they're down now, but at least they're going out and scheduling series with teams like Oklahoma, Oregon, UCLA, Cal, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, and USC. It's more than I can say for many others in the conference and around the country. At least they have the balls to play these games.

We're just not there yet. We are getting talent, but we don't have the experience and the depth to compete with the Oklahomas and Alabamas of the world. The good news (for Vol fans) is I truly think Butch Jones will get us there, but it's not going to be this year.
At least it's a night game so I won't feel bad about getting sloshed and ironically posting about how "we got 'em right where we want 'em."

We lost in OT to UCLA. A terrible UCLA team so it probably counts the same morally as a blowout. Oregon was indeed a blowout. But we have played and beaten NC State and Cincinnati in recent years, with Derek Dooley of all people. Those aren't marquee OOC opponents or anything, but they're a step up from the ULLs of the world at least.
But yes, we know. We suck. This board is a constant reminder.

All I know is Butch Jones almost pulled of an upset in Norman one year while he was at Cincy. Maybe Stoops will pull a Spurrier and drink before the game.
