I remember this one. UGA was cruising to the 1990 SEC regular season title. They traveled to LSU the last week of the season. LSU had to sweep them to win the SEC. LSU did. Yay! But UGA got the last laugh in Omaha.
I was a student and living in the crappiest dorms on campus that semester, which happened to be beyond left field bleachers. Was a fun weekend.
But it wasn't fun watching UGA come from nowhere that year and win it all after LSU had been knocking on the door with 4 CWS trips in 5 years. It was the SEC's first baseball title.
Then LSU finally got over the hump the next year.

No, it's like Florida -Tennessee in the 90s. The SEC championship and thus any shot at a championship generally went through that game so it was a big deal but not so much a rivalry. That's sort of Bama-Georgia.
A rivalry is a game you care about no matter the records of the teams. For us that's Florida, Tech and Auburn. If we go 3-8 and those are the 3 W's then I consider that a successful season

Sorry, but Alabama won the championship in 1964. You can't change the way the champion is decided after the season is over.
