fans will see what they want on a call. Especially with a close game.

That's not targeting. He led with his shoulder. Football moves so fast it's impossible for players' helmets not to touch.

I’m a neutral observer and it wasn’t targeting

Initial contact is shoulder to shoulder, there's no launching, and the initial contact with the helmets is the numbers on Branch's hitting the logo on Jefferson's so no leading with the crown. If Jefferson hadn't had the ball in his hands maybe it's targeting, but since he wasn't defenseless it isn't.

I, personally, don't consider this targeting but that doesn't negate OP's point. There is a good chance that had that been Young or any smaller QB, it would have been called. That is the problem with the targeting rule, it is too inconsistent. SEC refs just suck all around but their bad calls do tend to slant more in favor of certain teams in key moments.

Everyone agrees with that. And Bryce took a big hit that could've been targeting vs LSU and wasn't called. So, no, there's no guarantee.

It's just funny what gigantic crybabies you guys have turned into. Posting a thread about a potential targeting call that was iffy at best in the first place. Give it a rest.

Bryce Young got smoked worse than that vs LSU and it wasn't called targeting.

I see you guys are trying to take LSU's place as the biggest crybabies too.

Ain't it funny how the fans of the winning team don't spend their free time making gifs of missed calls?

Agreed

But OP’s point, if he had one, is retarded. Seems most here agree that wasn’t targeting. So then I’ll simply point out that only lunatics invent fake hypotheticals that didn’t happen, for the sole purpose of getting mad. See the poli board for this type of behavior- they love doing that shite. Just weird, unhealthy behavior.

Your dbs are notorious for holding all over the field. The receivers are trying to loosen the grid the dbs have on them. Learn the rules

He wasn't a defenseless runner, so I don't see the big deal.

But these days, I'm worried about a targeting call anytime a helmet touches a player, so I was worried it might get called during the play.

Is it really targeting? No. Doesn't launch or hit with the crown of the helmet, just trying to knock the guy out of bounds.

The crazy thing here is - what else could the guy do? If he lowers his head more, then it would be targeting, but that would be the only way he can get lower etc. A little incidental helmet to helmet can't be targeting every time.

Every team has bad calls go their way. Only difference is, when it happens to Alabama everyone gets pissed and screams to the mountain tops. Alabama has had many bad calls go against them, but no one wants to have that conversation. So, I'll just oblige you and go with your false narrative..... Yes, Alabama buys the officials and everything always goes their way.
