Firing Pruitt would be the only thing worse than keeping Pruitt. If we fire him, no one worth a damn comes to coach and we will be stuck with the buyout and some retread or some "up and comer" coach who we will overpay and then wait 3-5 years and back to it again

The last thing we need to do is fire him just to fire him. Without a plan in place, our coaching search will end up being a joke as usual.

We have really dug ourselves a hole but I honestly think the only thing we can do right now is give him some time and let him salvage the recruiting class. If we end up going 2-10 and the recruiting class falls apart then I may revisit the idea of firing him because at that point there'd be no hope for the future.

FSU is poor, Taggart gets at least one more year and Briles should be able to field a competent offense to keep in around.

Pruitt seems to have lost the program in less than 2 years.
You heard about run ins at Georgia with Richt. Some people aren't cut out to be head coaches. No way Tenn should have dropped the games they did this year. A down year for Tenn should be around 7/8 w's with the resources and talent they have.

Fire him and then you run the prospect of Fat Phil taking over as interim. On the other hand, no one other than a TN insider will take the job as long as Fat Phil is the AD.

In a hole, indeed.

Both. Watch FSU go after Bob Stoops then Tennessee would go after Mike Leach. Remember Mike Leach was the OC/QB coach at UK from 1997-98

The talent is not there where it's needed the most. Both sides of the lines of scrimmage are weak has hell. It's a major rebuild for sure.

It's pretty clear that the baldheaded gump retard isn't cut out to be a head coach... losing to GA State clearly indicates that.

However, you can't fire him after year 2 unless, like another poster noted, he goes 2-10 - which is very likely.

If he gets an SEC win, he stays another year.

Taggart is going to be in Tallahasse until at least the end of the 2020 season. That's when his buy-out decreases substantially. I know and work with a lot of FSU boosters in Tallahassee...and quite frankly, right now, they can't afford the 17 mil it would take to buy him out, and that's not even counting his assistants. The ex-players like Deion, Charlie Ward, William Floyd, and Derrick Brooks wanted the guy because he was a 'player's coach.' Well, they got him now and he's theirs for better or worse until the end of 2020. I am hearing that Deion Sanders now regrets the part he had in getting Taggart hired.

If Mullen could recruit, UF could bury FSU for the next decade.

Both need to go. But firing either one is the worst thing for either program. There needs to be some sort of perception of a little stability and direction with UT and FSU. Especially Tennessee. What coach out there is gonna come coach a shitty team with Fulmer breathing down his neck?

Might as well just let Phil take over right now and put UTk out of its misery.

Taggart
Currently 2-2

Remaining Schedule

vs NCST
@ 1 CLEM
@ WAKE
vs SYR
vs MIA
@ BC
vs ALST
@ 9 FLA

Pruitt
Currently 1-3

Remaining Schedule

vs 3 UGA
vs MSST
@ 2 ALA
vs SC
vs UAB
@ UK
@ MIZ
vs VAN

I wouldn't want to be either of them.

Tennessee should’ve hired Leach in the first place. He was interested and he’s built programs before at multiple places. He’d also be able to work with the talent already at UT unlike Pruitt.

Leach would be fun for a bit but hes not a long term answer. I don't think we'd be 1-3 under him right now but i don't think he has a sustainable system to reach the ceiling of the SEC. Obviously it doesn't seem like Pruitt is the guy right now but at the time I liked the hire better than Leach based on SEC connections
