He seems mad at Auburn. But, if all the rumors about them talking to Durkin behind his back as they were negotiating to hire him are true, no wonder. That's the kind of repeated meddling that permanently damages a program.

I didn't speak to Jon directly, but pretty close inner circle. The feeling was that AU had the attitude of "What can you do to help us win?" and UF had the attitude of "What can we do to help you win?" Everybody knows that Spurrier, Meyer, and others were talking to Jon throughout the hiring process. They weren't interviewing Jon, they were telling Jon how they could help him. During Jon's initial presser, he said "I want to coach here forever." That is complete opposite of what he said about Auburn "They didn't want me and I didn't want them."
AU has the same problem they have had for a long time: Too many Chiefs.

If keeping Durkin was truly a requirement then those in charge at Auburn haven't learned a damn thing. Pretty funny that Sumrall's team scored 44 on the supposedly awesome Durkin.
Fine with me, though. I'm glad Auburn didn't get Sumrall. He appears to be a much better coach than Golesh, whose coachspeak is as bad as his team.
I rememeber when some Auburn fans claimed the qb would be a great addition. He sucks too.

I didn't watch the game but Brown put up some big numbers.

He has the slowest release in the entire FBS at 3.32 seconds per pass.
He's also been sacked the most. But that's more on the line.

That said, I don't understand why Golesh didn't have him on the move more. He's playmaker in space, but his pocket processing and wind-up throwing motion are way too slow for the SEC.

It must be a generational thing to find trolling and he said/he said stuff really interesting and trying to make interesting celebrities out of dorks in khakis holding a whistle. It's like TMZ or dudes.

I won't defend Auburn's trying to subtly push Durkin on candidates (assuming that happened), but it makes no sense for Sumrall to be mad at Auburn.
We were trying to hire him and it stalled and he ended up at a bigger program. Auburn being close to hiring him probably helped him land the UF job, TBH. Jabs at Auburn seem cheesy/fake/poor taste IMO.
UF won and I was impressed with them so if they want to do some sort of take no prisoners attitude - whatever, on them to sustain it. But I think there has long been a debate over whether Sumrall had the credibility to run a big program like he did Tulane and this saga pushes me toward "trying too hard." TBD.

I was at both games, and he isn't wrong.
Jordan Hare was a mess. With the work they were doing in the end zone, it took forever to get in the stadium and even longer to get to the seats. The concourses were jammed and it took forever to go to the bathroom or through a concession line.
UF had a quick interception to start the game, and every time AU had any momentum, the Gator's immediately pushed back. By the time Auburn made it closer in the 4th quarter, the game was well in hand and most fans had already left.
I honestly don't blame it on their fans, it seemed to be a function of stadium operations and their players/coaches not being able sustain momentum on the field. I was at Jordan Hare when we lost back in 2011, and it was a totally different animal with the crowd.
