Best of the best?! Let's wait and see what he does without JF because without him now , A&M is not a very good football team. That being said , I think when and if Sumlin leaves it will be for the NFL.

I didn't say he was the best of the best.
I said he was among the best of the best.
And he is.
Our team has some great players who could would start for many teams. To say we wouldn't be good w/o JFF is disingenuous (and a moot point).
No slight at you, your coach, or your team.
Just my opinion (and others' as well).

Best of luck to Timmy D when both coaches in the title turn them down. He is a west coast guy and fits out there.

One thing is for sure, Mrs. Sumlin & Mrs. Franklin can go one one hell of a shopping trip because of this coaching vacancy. This will cost us.

Nick Saban to USC.

Better job, better recruits, better facilities, more money, blah, blah, blah.

$3.5 million in Texas = $1.5 million in California when you factor in taxes.

From the article:

quote:

Not to mention, as Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham said recently, “The SEC will grind you to a pulp.”  You tell me: Which program, USC or Texas A&M, will win a national championship in the next decade?

Interesting question..

That'd be funny if TAMU started paying him $5M a year, and he sucks when JFF is gone.

Sumlin has everything at his disposal at A&M to make it an elite program. A&M can easily "pony" up money. I am not concerned whatsoever about the coaching vacancies, or even the NFL. Especially the NFL.

quote:

"I don't have to say anything," Sumlin said about speculation tying him to a jump to the NFL. "Everybody knows what I do (now). I've never coached in the NFL. I've had plenty of opportunities to do that, both as an assistant coach and even as a head coach. But there's a reason I coach college football, and we've got a lot of work to do here."

I agree about Fitz. He played at Northwestern and is idolized by the fans. He is building the program the way he wants and is given everything he asks for.

I'm curious as to Kiffin's future, from a tran wreck point of view. He got called out by his former employer with the Raiders, was dishonorable with with UT, and cemented the fact at USC that without his Dad on his staff, he's simply not very good. It seems to be a pattern with this guy.

I'm worried about the NFL for Sumlin, not USC.

No way Sumlin leaves TX, the SEC, and the 5 star QB he has coming in next year and the year after. Depth is coming in Aggieland. Prepare yourselves.

I do. Honestly. I'm not trolling. A&M, while certainly a great job, isn't on the same tier as USCw in terms of top coaching jobs. If Sumlin has any ambition at all -- and he may not, he may be perfectly content to lead A&M until he retires or is fired -- he going to seriously consider an offer from USCw. The fans will embrace him, his coaching style would be a natural fit for both the program and the local recruits, and the recruiting will likely be even easier (Texas recruiting is great, but there's a lot more competition for local recruits.) I can see the move to the SEC being what keeps him set -- he'd certainly have a lot more incentive to leave the B12 than the SEC -- but he definitely has to give the idea real consideration if he's offered.

And, let's face it, the SEC is brutal. Even if he proves to be an excellent coach without Manziel, A&M is going to take a huge hit when the guy leaves and may not quite reach the same heights again for many years.

All legitimate points, but at the end of the day, we simply won't be outbid by another CFB program.

With the move to the SEC and new Kyle Fiekd, we can't afford to. We have no choice but to match and exceed any offer.
