Well, first of all: it happened

Hunter Yurachek had Lane coming, and jealous douchebags on the BOT and boosters loyal to Gus Malzahn pulled the rug out and forbade our AD from doing his job.
Same thing two years earlier with Julie Cromer Peoples, interim AD, she had Lane coming and the same douchebags carpet bombed the process with their Gus tears.
These people have been declaring war on the program ever since their boy left in a crybaby huff in 2007

Chad was a Jerry Jones hire because we had an interim AD and Chad was supposed to bring back “Texas recruiting.”

That is small compared to what other programs have done.
Yep, but the investigation started in 1999 and Arkansas also self imposed penalties. What it did for recruiting over that period was a huge penalty as well.
This is what Nutt had to say about it:
The longer this thing dragged on, it was just a cloud over the program," Yeager said. "Obviously, today brings conclusion to this case and I'm sure they're very pleased because there's no innuendo floating around."
Arkansas football coach Houston Nutt is one of those most pleased to see the case resolved. He said that before national signing day for football recruits in February he dealt with negative recruiting from other schools telling recruits that Arkansas might receive a bowl ban and loss of television privileges.
"We can go forward now. It's clear-cut. There's no longer a ëmaybe you'll lose TV games or bowl games,"' Nutt said. "You don't have to go into a living room and defend yourself anymore."
Arkansas self-reported the infractions in 2000. University officials had expressed concern about the case dragging on for three years, saying it effectively put the school on probation.
"I think the university from the outset tried to investigate very thoroughly and work with the enforcement staff," Yeager said. "I think both groups were frustrated by the length of time it took to process the case."

The second part is what’s concerning. With the last 2 hires and now giving Sam another year we’ve clearly stopped trying. Admin has alway tried to at least give the fan base hope.
Maybe they realized we have gotten here by listening to the fans who want a new coach every 3 years. Maybe we decided to tell the noisy idiots to stfu and sit down. go to the games, stay home, who cares, just stfu. Maybe.

We will be in much better shape financially to replace him, if needed, after next season.

If we hire Gus, I will be done with them for a while.

Just a pathetic football program and a pathetic place on this planet. They deserve to be mocked.

See yall in jerryworld! 11-1 not too shabby!

The only positive I see in this is that you are giving him more time at 5 seasons as opposed to some programs who fire them at only a couple of seasons.
His chances of failure is very high next season and Arkansas won't be blamed not giving him more time.

We need to fix our high school programs before we can expect better. We produced exactly one 5 star in the past decade. Mississippi, who has fewer people, produced 9. Alabama, who has 5.5 million to our 3.5 million produced 17.
Y'all need to hire some Texas people who can sneak some talent out of that state. Oklahoma has comparable high school football talent, but loads up on Texans every year. Also, should go the Tennessee route and find a coach who teaches a gimmick spread offense.

Sure just hire Chad Morris again.

Disagree. They can compete. With a consistent and creative offensive philosophy and good use of the portal, 7-9 win seasons can be the norm.
In your post that I replied to you said “Arkansas can compete at a strong level”. I said that they couldn’t.
Obviously you think 7-9 win seasons with 4 cupcake OOC games included is competing at a strong level.
Hate to break it to you, but 7 & 8 win seasons with an occasional 9 win season isn’t exactly competing at a “strong level”.

It is to Arkansas when they are enduring the worst stretch of football since the 50s.
Posted on 11/21/23 at 6:10 am to Jon Ham
It's not his fault the Arkansas administration accepted a higher paycheck so they could move to a conference they'll never be truly competitive in.
They can sneak in the occasional 10 win season... but they're a Big 12 school.

Won't matter who ark coach is, they will NEVERwin in SEC. They need to go to sunbelt or conference USA to have a chance of winning anything. Fact
