I'm honestly not being a dick because I respect Alabama but I always think their 2009 team is too highly ranked on these lists. I think they're one of the worst of bamas most recent dynasty.
Yes, they beat us but I don't think we were great that year either and we were within 3 with 3 minutes left with a freshman QB who accounted for t turnovers.

2008 UF is too low by a lot.

Seriously, 2001 Miami is often cited as top five all time squad
And they’re always overrated. Had a lot of talent but a good bit was young and rarely played. They barely beat some mediocre teams that year

2005 Texas is better than 2019 LSU. There, I said it.

Man…I usually agree with you but this one just ain’t it. Weird one to get upset over too.

getting butthurt about a team with 38 NFL Draft Picks being considered the #1 team. They combined for 43 Pro Bowls. Ehh. The 2002 Ohio State team had like 32 draft picks on it. People forget how much NFL talent was on the field on both sides of the ball in that Fiesta Bowl.
Neither of those are records. Pretty sure the number from the Bama/UGA NC game after the 2021 season dwarf these.

2004 AU > 2004 USC
I'll die on that hill.
2004 AU was > 2004 OU which was why it was a shame you didn't get the chance.
Same thing happened in 2000 with Florida State getting in over Miami.
More often than not the BCS did a decent job
1998 stupid Kansas State fricked themselves losing to aggy
1999 only two unbeatens
2000 should have picked Miami instead of FSU
2001 probably should have picked Oregon instead of Nebraska but they did lose to Stanford at home..
2002 only two unbeatens
2003 should have taken USC when Kansas State broke Jason White
2004 should have taken Auburn (better schedule) over Oklahoma
2005 wire-to-wire top 2
2006 Florida was the choice over Michigan
2007 LSU was the right choice of the 2 loss turds
2008 BDF tiebreaker process screwed the BCS
2009 got it right even with Colt getting hurt
2010 got it right and gave us SEC Guy
2011 got it right after Oklahoma State effed themselves in Ames, Iowa
2012 you had to take undefeated Notre Dame but god they sucked
2013 Auburn was the right choice after kick-six
So 16 years and they only botched it 5 times. Not perfect but orders of magnitude better than the predecessor.

Finally, folks are starting to understand 2020 Bama has no place in a best of all time conversation. At least not the top two.
As a LSU fan I can appreciate that 2019 team being behind Miami.

#23 -2016 Clemson beat #8-2016 Bama for the Championship too... not a solid list

Without Derrick Henry would have been very pedestrian.
This is a dumb comment. I've heard people say "UGA without Herschel would not have been...." Or "If Florida didn't have Tebow..."
But guess what genius?...they DID have those players. That's why they were great! Great teams are made great by great players.

Ranking all 52 teams in College Football Playoff history
quote:
1. 2020 Alabama (13-0)
CFP result: Beat Notre Dame 31-14; beat Ohio State 52-24
The Crimson Tide had the Nos. 1, 3 and 5 finishers in the Heisman voting. They played one game decided by fewer than 14 points. They bested an SEC-only schedule by an average of 30.2 points per game. Their defense struggled early but allowed only 15 points per game after mid-October. This was the best Nick Saban team ever and quite possibly the best of the 21st century.
Best team ... from the best coach ... with the best dynasty of the 21st century (at the very least)? Sounds like the best team of the CFP era.
Don't feel bad.
The Worldwide Leader in Sports has 2019 LSU as #2.

I'm not sure that '05 Texas team is within shouting distance of half those teams.

What hurts LSU is they needed a miracle to beat freshman Bo Nix at home.

Nah they're disqualified for losing to at home to Houston Nutt.

They won 3 games by single digits.
Not bad overall.
2020 Alabama had 1 such game.
That's fricking elite.

2013 FSU above 2010 Auburn
They shouldn't even have beaten 2013 Auburn.
