Predicting the CFP scenarios

The article is behind a paywall, sorry. Mandel predicts what will happen in the 16 possible scenarios that could result from the 4 conference championships (he assumes Michigan will win and thus guarantees they are in). He predicts Georgia will make it in all 8 scenarios in which it wins (obviously) and in 2 scenarios in which it loses. Interestingly, he predicts Alabama will make it in all 8 scenarios in which it wins. His rationale when comparing Alabama to Texas is that Alabama will jump to 3 and thus head to head won't be a consideration.

It's just one guy's opinion, but he is a national sportswriter. Take it for what it's worth.

If Bama and Texas win their CCG:

Bama: 3 top 15 wins, 1 loss to a one-loss team
Texas: 1 top 15 win, 1 loss to a two-loss team

There is no honest debate as to which resume would be better. If Bama clearly has the better resume (they would) you don’t go to the “head to head tiebreaker.”

True that. They should've played each other this season to find out which team was better!!!

Losing to a two-loss team is better than losing to a one-loss team!!!!

"Our losses are better than your losses!!!" -spoken like a true championship contender with a champion mindset if you ask me

And apparently having 24 points in a game is better than your opponent having 34 points in the same game?

I've been pretty much saying the same thing here. Almost. I do think Texas beats out Bama if they win impressively and FSU, Washington, Michigan all win. But, it's going to be very debatable. There's more than just head to head to look at.

Imagine allowing man made discussions and computers preside over settling things on an actual field.

In that case put OU over Texas. They settled it on the field didn’t they?

If OU and Texas were both one-loss conference champions, yes, absolutely.

How in the frick can you honestly say this??

If you lose to a team head to head, and it comes down to either of those teams with the exact same record, there should be zero question who to put in the playoffs.

But its alabama, so we must all suck thy dick.

If Alabama ends up beating Georgia and Texas wins against Okie State, a case could be made for either team. And I will concede your point that Texas won the head to head back in the second week of September.
But would you be so confident that Texas would win in a rematch? Everyone forgets, Texas had a four yard scoring drive in the 4th to salt the game away. This was following an awful interception that Milroe gifted right to the Texas DB. That game could have gone either way up until that point.

Texas won by double digits in a road game at alabama. There is no scenario where they get jumped by them.
