There's also the two years prior to last year where they didn't make the postseason. MSU invests way too much in baseball to suffer losing seasons 3/4 years.

The problem that most SEC fans don't understand about Mississippi State athletics is that the limited number of big time donors we have don't give two shits about football, but they will pony up for baseball.

Its hurt us for decades and is killing us in NIL. But it won't be a money problem that keeps us from getting a good coach.

O'Connor at Virginia may be a dream, but it has legs. He has an interestingly low buyout, and UVA hasn't delivered on some promises for facility enhancements and such.

Chris Pollard at Duke might be the best coach on the list. Duke is traditionally awful and he's had them in three Super Regionals. But he's never made Omaha.

Tom Walter at Wake Forest (State's athletic director has ties here) is my favorite. He's the best realistic option in my opinion.

He has ties to WF, yes. But Selmon and Walter were never there at the same time.

In my opinion, Brian O’Connor is the best coach in the sport.

Yeah, but last year they had 11 players drafted. Of course 2025 was going to be a down year.

Yea and that team got bounced as a 2 seed in a regional. Part of the problem is Lemonis has not been able to sustain the program he inherited.

Outsiders just see he won the natty but they don’t realize 95+% of that team was cohen/Cannizzaro recruits and we had bonafide alpha’s all over the roster.

Once those recruits left we got to see what type of player/program Lemonis could build himself and it’s been an abject disaster.

Is MSU going to win at least a game against Mizzou this weekend?

A long shot, but depending on how the rest of the season goes, don’t rule the interim coach.

State fans not replying. They’re nervous.

If State hires OConnor does that come with some John Grisham money?

I had no idea O’Connor is only 54. Legitimately thought he was early 60s given how long he’s been successful at UVA.

Yeah, that should be your first call. Personally I don’t understand why coaches would want to leave comfortable situations for the stress of SEC athletics, exactly why I don’t see Lanning leaving Oregon.

No it’s just a dumb question from a dumb poster.

We’ll take the series but not sure about a sweep.

There is talent on this team. Just another season that a Lemonis team never did really live up to its potential primarily because of basic coaching and lack of leadership.

I’m excited to have a coach who doesn’t appear to meet his team for the first time in February.

Brian O’Connor and Wes Johnson are the two top names.

If I’m State I go after Elander at Tennessee

Why hire a 31 year old ast with zero experience over established experienced head coaches ?

No one has mentioned Nate Yeskie. He has been in the SEC for the past few years, but the same thing can happen, just like Wes Johnson going to Georgia.

State ain’t looking to hire an assistant

Funny enough we lost out on his money when we wouldn’t give his son a scholarship (he grew up a state baseball fan)

We'd have to win the CWS for him to get a legitimate shot

The same pitching coach that left Stone Simmons in after giving up 6 runs and no outs? That interim Coach?

Bitch I'm an elder to you and yes Ole Miss's baseball stadium is garbage. (You could float a ship in the outfield when it rains and your lounge is a mile from the outfield wall)

-Claims have been made this year that the BearSharkRebs had an athletic department years ahead of State. Yet, the Football team of the century barely beat State, your basketball got swept, baseball still can't win a series against us. So someone please tell me with facts how Ole Miss is even in our conference, Sunbelt is calling.... mediocre little shitstains.... #meltOver
