There is a coach who has been successful at lower level D1 and G5 D1 programs in the south, who also has SEC HC expierance that might be available.

The guy also just swept the pre-season #1 team at their place.

O’Conner won’t go to state. They don’t have the money to get him to leave UVA. He has won as many national titles at UVA as State has won. And he will retire there with a statue. He ain’t budging at this point in his career. This is a Hadad dream they won’t happen.

He may stay there until he retires, but I have no idea. He’s probably got another 10 years to coach at least and the landscape of college athletics/baseball has changed quite a bit. He’ll be remembered more for his last 10 years more than what he’s accomplished prior and if there is another opportunity that sets him up to be more successful as he closes out his career you would think he considers it. Maybe he doesn’t consider it, but most coaches would.

Don't underestimate the effect of the new scholarship rules on coaching moves. MSU will add a lot to baseball. ACC schools will add some, but there is no way they will match the SEC in baseball scholarships. Because of Title IX, you will have to add one for the women for each one you add to baseball. That makes it effectively 2 scholarships to get one baseball player, and then you toss NIL on top of that.

It's funny, as "wild & crazy" as Mingione is, CJJ, fairly laid back, considers him as one of his best friends in college baseball.

Mingione is completely different off the field than he is on the field. He was nothing but gracious to LSU after losing that super regional in 2023. He and Jay have known each other since college when they both played against each other in the NAIA world series as players. Then they worked a summer baseball camp together as coaches.

No one has mentioned Nate Yeskie. He has been in the SEC for the past few years, but the same thing can happen, just like Wes Johnson going to Georgia.

O’Connor is at top of the list. Wes Johnson is probably next on the list. I know they put out a statement but Kendall Rogers seems to think that is just coach talk from both of them. Other than that, it’s just a bunch of names and Coggins wants the job. Coggins has already prepared for an interview if he gets one.

People keep overlooking how the House settlement is going to change baseball. Outside of the SEC, very few schools will give out the 34 authorized scholarships. Now, NIL may be severely limited if the clearinghouse deal goes through (and survives challenges in other lawsuits), but the scholarship deal is a difference maker if, as has been speculated by the experts, the ACC schools do not offer the full 34.

$500k buyout and $2 million a year? Yeah, we don't have that.

I still can’t believe they fired the only guy who won a National Championship there.

It's more unbelievable just how bad they have been with that same coach since the natty. I thought Lemonis was gonna coach at MSU as long as he wanted but outside of an okay year last year, he completely took them off the map.

Yeah, but last year they had 11 players drafted. Of course 2025 was going to be a down year.
