2000 LSU @ UF

Classic Spurrier. Has anyone done this since?

Spurrier hated LSU because they didn’t offer him the job when he interviewed.

They should have. Archer was a disaster, but the players and Arnsparger wanted him.

This is why you don’t listen to players when hiring a coach.

Not that I recall. That pissed a great many LSU fans off.

He did it in 98 too but LSU chose to wear some weird arse yellow jerseys instead lol.

I also thought Florida made us wear Purple many years before that.

Can anybody find that out?

I don't think so. Dude was a troll using the media and messing with opponents, long before internet trolling was a thing, just who he is.

I read a really cool article a couple of years ago saying that Spurrier always thought LSU should be better than they were and he had a ton of respect for the school.

I wish I could find it.

He always thought we had the athletes to compete against anyone but at the time we didn’t have the coaching.

He really did want the LSU job tho, and yes he was a master troll.

The dude is the SEC.

He wrote about it in his book. He was right. LSU should’ve hired him. In retrospect, though, LSU would’ve never gotten Saban because Spurrier would’ve had a ton of success in Baton Rouge.

I loathed Spurrier 20 years ago but the dude was spot on, we should have never sucked arse in the 90s like we did.

I think he probably did hold a grudge against LSU tbh. Spurrier is very good at holding grudges.

He seemed pretty hellbent on making UGA and LSU his whipping boys.

Spurrier would have been sick at LSU no doubt.

I love how he fricked with us in the 90s, that is college football rivalry shite to a T.

Well, who wouldn't? Talent rich state with no other SEC program in it. But he never passed an opporutnity to troll an opponenet, which is why I think it was just Spurrier being Spurrier. I suspect he hated us the most, but maybe not, who knows?

I don't think so but I know Gene Stallings did something similar if LSU was doing it in the early-90s.

1991 Alabama vs. LSU

1992 Alabama vs. LSU (We played them in Baton Rouge in back-to-back years due to conference expansion)

1994 Alabama vs. LSU

That was all before Dinardo successfully campaigned to bring back the home whites. LSU wore only purple at home under Curley.
