The conferences are laughably uneven, and I'm guessing there would be autobids for conference champs in this scenario. Talk about a golden situation for Penn State

The fact that multiple people sat around thinking about this and this is all they can come up with is kinda sad.

So ACC becomes Deep South and SEC becomes Sun Belt, yeah that makes sense

Wisconsin would win that conference 9 out of 10 years

I don't have a problem playing them, Vandy, and UK every year and only having to worry about Notre Dame.

Go back to 2006 and every champion is from Deep South or sun belt or they’re Clemson/Ohio state

This is what is being published by SI now?

Did they fire their staff and replace them with generic worst message board guy or what? What a joke.

I would much rather see a P5 college football league with roughly 80 schools - 16 teams in each conference - with an 8-team playoff to end the season. The five conference champions get an auto-bid into the playoffs with three at-large teams. I would also mandate a 9-game conference schedule with the other three games obviously being played against teams from other P5 conferences. Rent-a-Wins against the Akrons, Kent States, and UABs of the world would be effectively abolished.

I didn’t think Clemsons schedule could get any easier but it did.

I appreciate what they are trying to do (geographical alignment, short road trips for fans, reduced travel costs for every program which would have a positive impact especially on the non-powerhouses for for the non-revenue sports) but the execution is horrible.

Essentially only 3 of these conferences would have quality competition for the football conference title, 5 conferences would be a cake walk for the sole powerhouse in that conference, and 2 would be pillow fights to determine the conference champion.

The entire purpose of this is to make room for more midwestern and western schools to make the Playoff and dilute the power of the SEC.

It doesn't create better regular season matchups. It doesn't create a more even landscape between conferences. It doesn't make CFB more competitive. It doesn't even create interesting conferences.

The best of those conferences is the Great Midwest. Good match-ups for those schools. How did UAB get moved to the Florida/Georgia Conference? Is Alabama that afraid of playing them?

Sheeot. As a UGA I would take this all day long

UGA and Florida would be like Nebraska back in the day...the only game Nebraska ever had on their schedule was Oklahoma...UGA or UF would win that conference about 95% of the time.
