Also, looking up that info I found this pic from the '96 game. Perhaps my all-time favorite Gamecock uniform combination (along with garnet helmets, black shirt, and white pants from that era). Can't see it in that pic but they say GAMECOCKS across the front.

I suppose I was thinking of the ones from a year or so before.

Not trying to derail the thread, but if you are serious then that is a pretty ignorant statement. If not, then I give your troll a score of 2 out of 10.

Stephen Davis = GOAT that the Mildly Retarded Bowden decided was most valuable standing on the sideline.

4- Kevin Faulk- solid as a rock performer

Yep, so solid he was first team all american, led the SEC in rushing twice, and three time first team All-SEC running back.

Fred taylor was a beast. No doubt.

But he did benefit from the offense being so wide open. A screen pass would go 40 yards because the safties were running with their around like chickens with their heads cut off

Also, just like his pro career, dude was ALWAYS hurt. Missed a lot of games in his career. Taking him first would be a huge risk.

When healthy, he was amazing. Talk about a fantasy killer though. You had to take him high, but he would screw you about half the time.

Talley played from 1999 to 2002, so he's not really a 90s back.

fred taylor and errict rhett were both 2 of the best backs uf's ever had behind emmitt

fred didnt compile that great of stats in college but he was super talented i remember so many bad arse sportscenter runs with the jags

He was a great back...but stats don't always tell the whole story. You and I both know we can't use that as justification for saying A is better than B or else you're essentially saying Timmy Chang is tGoat quarterback. I'd probably place Faulk at 3 or 4 behind Lewis, Taylor, and possibly Henry as guys that put the fear in me as a bama fan. We struggled tackling big backs in that age though.

Lewis had Peyton Manning at QB and one good year. Taylor had only one season over 900 yards and 8 TDs rushing. Henry was good throughout his career, but only had one 1000 yard rushing season. Faulk had 3 straight 1150+ yard 12+ TD seasons.

Faulk did everything and was extremely versatile. He scored as a rusher, passer, receiver, kick returner, and punt returner. He holds the SEC record in All purpose yards, and I'm sure he still either first or second in total yards. He scored 54 TDs in his career.

The fact of the matter is, he statically overwhelms all those guys and was the most dangerous player on the field.

What could have been if Cecil Collins didn't tear his acl and get kicked out at lsu for breaking in a girl's dorm. He went beast mode against miss state and auburn before tearing his acl vs candy on that astro turf they had. This was the time when it was run heavy in the conference. I'm glad lsu didn't play Tennessee in those days because they were stacked. Florida and Kentucky were the only teams who were pass happy.

I agree with this. God how I miss guys like Jamal, Travis Henry + Travis Stevens, Little Man Stewart, Cobb and Webb and on and on. And how happy I am that we're finally starting to see a few of those backs at UT again. We were so fricking spoiled.

I'm considering going back and swapping Henry and Lewis. Lewis could hit home runs in a way Henry couldn't, but Travis Henry was just a bowling ball. So hard to bring down. Ran a bit like Nick Chubb does today.

Oh, and he'd also fathered like 9 kids with 8 different girls despite being maybe 5-6 in real life height and not a looker by any means. Get at it, Trav.

Jamal Lewis and my personal fave as a Jax Jags fan, Fred Taylor

Fred Taylor had the best size/speed combo in the league beyond Herschel and Bo

Eta: Fred Talley had one of the best games I was ever in attendance to see vs Auburn in 2002....bastard

Talley wasn't a 90's back

That would have been Madre Hill and Chris Chukwuma for Arkansas

And Cedric Cobbs. Talley was very good and was a freshman in '99, but I don't remember if he played.

Is it bad that I don't even remember John Avery or Robert Edwards? I remember Travis Henry was a beast, although he never accomplished as much as I'd expected.
