So Cotton is a major bowl except when Aggies play?

I listed the bowls by season, hence the 1999 Fiesta Bowl was for the 1999 season but played in January of 2000. So, if you want to get technical is might be the 2000 Fiesta Bowl, but 1999 was the last season Tennessee made a major bowl game.

And what about the Citrus in 2002? Citrus was always for 2nd place in the SEC which is why Spurrier teased us about it. Did the Citrus suck then too?

No, A&M played in the Cotton many times from 1937-94, but not since it regained major status in 2014. Damn, some of y’all need to study the history of college football better.

Except when you and Tennessee play, yes.

Citrus has never been considered a major bowl game. Do any of y’all know anything about college football?

It pitted the 2nd place SEC team against the 2nd place Big 10 team. Do you?
If you're getting picky about time frames for the Cotton and Peach there's no way in hell you can say the Citrus wasn't major.

Holy shite dude let me explain this easy shite:
1.Original system(whenever-1991 season)-Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Cotton. Fiesta became major in 1986 when it hosted the National Championship between Miami and Penn State
2. Bowl Coalition(1992-1994)- Rose, Orange, Sugar, Cotton, and Fiesta. I ain’t explaining the system you can look it up.
3. Bowl Alliance(1995-97)- Orange, Fiesta, and Sugar. Rose wasn’t a member but still a major bowl as it had the champs of Big 10/PAC 10. Cotton is dropped when SWC folds.
4. BCS(1998-2013)- Rose, Orange, Sugar, and Fiesta. Extra game is added as BCS Championship Game in 2006.
5. CFP/NY6(2014-present)- Rose, Sugar, Orange, and Fiesta. Cotton is added and regains major status, as well as the Peach which for the first time becomes a major bowl.

Peach and Cotton were not prime time bowls during the BCS era. Only Rose, Sugar, Fiesta, and Orange were major bowls.
Cotton and Peach got pushed back for awhile, then came back to prime time for the playoffs. Not sure how you guys do not understand that.

It wasn’t the second place team in either. It is the next choice after the MAJOR BOWLS choose. Example this year: LSU SEC Champ/ Peach Bowl, Georgia next highest ranked SEC Sugar, Florida next highest Orange, and finally the Citrus got to choose the 4th best SEC team. It’s always been like that since the bowl coalition was created in 1992 and the Citrus signed the contract with the SEC. Example: 1998 Tennessee SEC champs go to the Fiesta, Florida is chosen for the Orange, therefore the Citrus got the 3rd pick from the SEC which was Arkansas.

Ahhh...I see that now. Yea, Arkansas won the 2012 Cotton Bowl following the 2011 season against Kansas State.
The only reason Arkansas played in the Cotton was because we'd played in the Sugar the previous year. Otherwise, we would have been playing in the Sugar, again.
Regardless, the Cotton had the higher ranked teams, as the Sugar settled for #13 Michigan and #11 Virginia Tech. The Cotton matched #6 Arkansas and #8 KSU, so I'd say that the 2012 Cotton is the right answer for Arkansas.

You don’t read real well do you?

I’m not sure why this is so hard to comprehend. It’s going by what was considered a major bowl at the time it was played.

So a Jan 1 Bowl game - The Citrus Bowl has the largest payout of any Bowl other than a Playoff Bowl.
It’s not a major???

No!!!!!!! The Citrus Bowl is NOT a major bowl. Do you people not understand the college bowl system? You said largest payout other than the playoff bowls. Well, you answered your own question then.

I wouldn't say so. back in the 90s I think it was a really BIG bowl but it was never on par with the rose or sugar or anything that would universally be considered a "major bowl". Then in the early 2000s it was the capitalone bowl and I dont' think anyone would pretend that was a major bowl. Then it changed back to the citrus, but it still isn't a "major bowl".

We got absolutely fricked by the BCS bowl system. 2011,2012, and 2013 we were top 10 and didn’t get one because of the two team rule
