The B1G is about to box us in on the west coast and northern ACC schools + ND. What's our next move?

I would rather become irrelevant and drop to DII than add a school outside the South

Alliance with the big 12? We need someone watching our flank.

Stay right where we are at. This is conference realignment not a land war. We aren't looking for territorial gains.

What, are they about to roll across the border with panzers or something? Why do we have to do anything? If the COVID season taught me anything, it's that I don't really care much about what the rest of the country does. As long as the South is playing football, the rest of them can do whatever they want.

It is not like they are going to beat us for titles or anything

Once they take our border schools, we will have no options for future expansion. The sec is not going to invite schools on an island.

This is another concern. If we break away, the fact that the big has more schools will have them sending more of theirs to the expanded playoff.

Why do we "need" to expand? I don't care if the B1G goes to 48 schools and then refuses to schedule games with SEC teams. I'm down for an all-SEC schedule, all the time.

It is to the Big 10. People dismiss the notion at their peril.

This is not about championships or anything that happens on the field or in the stands. It’s about money and power.

???? You don't think one has anything to do with the other?

BTW why is everyone so sure all this money will come pouring in with expansion? Hell,we won't see a dime from OU/Texas deal until 2 years from now.

It won’t come pouring in immediately. The problem is that fans are thinking as fans and not thinking long term outside their bubbles.

None of this works if you think of the college football audience as static and never changing. It only works if you bring in new consumers, and the end game of all this is changing the sport to attract consumers ages 18 to 45 in diverse demographics.

And again, maybe that’s the point where the SEC says “enough.”

College Football is about to become a super league of 30-40 teams, grouped into two conferences, with a playoff structure similar to that of the NFL. That is what the game will look like 10 years from now.
