South Carolina was 23-5 at this point last season and still missed the NCAAs.

South Carolina is 20-8 right now.

Why do people still have them in the tourney?

Hope you guys right the ship.

They scheduled better and did worse. They'll get in without an implosion the rest of the way.

They may have to make sure to make it to day two of the SECT though.

They lost to the good teams on their schedule though. They beat us once, that'll be their one good win.

As much as I have attempted to play the role of doomsday prepper for the rest of the fan base we are still projected a 7 or 8 seed. In fact I think on ESPN our RPI actually went up after last night. I think UTk could beat us and we could lose our first SEC tournament game but even then with us being a 7-8 seed right now, our falling out of the tournament all together seems unlikely.

TFWIW Teamrankings, I think ESPN uses them to some degree for projections, actually has us going 2-1 for the rest of the season and still being 97% likely to get a bid. However, I think the project us to lose to Ole Piss instead of Utk.

If y'all go 2-2 with a first game L in SECT, I'd be really effing nervous, especially if Arkansas keeps winning

I think our bad losses to Missouri and Miss State late in the season did just as much to hurt our chances last year as not having signature wins in terms of not getting in.

While it is not likely, I'm not sure if it is completely out of the question depending on how everything shakes out that we could potentially get 4 teams in. again not likely but it could happen.

They have an RPI of 30. The bubble is really bad this year due to weak mid-majors.

They're in unless they implode.

I guess because we split the series with UF

weak schedule or not, Carolina had to be the first P5 team in NCAA history to go 23-5 and miss the tournament

What made it worse was that Vandy had gotten in. A team we had beaten and finished higher than in the standings.

Hell, in 2009-2010 we tied UT for the East title and still didn't get in (the Vols did).

We may not have made it since 2004, but those two teams deserved to get in.

They had a weak schedule last season.
They lost 5 of their final 8 games. Including a first round SECt loss to UGA.

Though the schedule isn't as weak this season, they have now lost 3 in a row, 4 of their last 5 with 3 games left.

Will only having one good player hurt them with the committee?

I think the real fear would be if Tennessee finishes with 20 Wins (including USCe) + Arkansas has a better record

While not likely, it is plausible and could leave USCe as SEC #5 and likely outside

Arkansas

-Better record
-Won @USCe
-Finished season strong
- Arkansas gets more "Brand recognition" love (BS but real)
Tennessee
-Top 3-5 SOS nationally
-Won @USCe
-Finished season strong
-Extremely impressive OOC schedule / "Quality Losses"
-Rick Barnes/TN gets more "Brand Recognition" love (BS but real)

they almost have to lose out to miss. Only one win puts them on the bubble

South Carolina will be in unless they lose out. Even then they could still make it.

Even if USC keeps struggling, they'll likely still get in.
It's not just about specific teams, it's about the bubble. Probably the weakest bubble in years.

All they have to do is win against State and they would probably still have a top 40 rpi.
