A guy in DC caught an assault charge for hitting an ICE agent with a thrown sandwich.
Good thing it wasn't a Taco Bell Burrito. Then it would have been assault with a deadly weapon...

Just for the sake of argument….. what if it was 3 cops and 1 player and the player walked through the middle of them and elbowed one of the cops and then started screaming at them?
Tased and cuffed that’s what.

The officer would have arrested him for assaulting a police officer for the same contact. He would have been anrrest for assault for pushing the officer back after the unjustified contact. Officers are big babies and are allowed to unjustly abuse citizens for no crimes.

Probably correct, given he was a senior this season

Won't TX dps have to provide that on discovery?
Yes. But even before we begin discussing discovery, a complaint has to be filed with a county clerk of court -- whatever county encompasses College Station, Tx. It could be under seal. Lots of variables to work through, but I still think the end result is just to expose the cop

Did he lose his job? Or did he get suspended with pay (vacation)? Did they actually do anything to him? Did he just get another job as a deputy sheriff so no big deal?
He committed assault.
If you hit someone hard or soft, it is assault.
Cops shouldn't be immune from consequences.

That is youth talking. The officer is held to a higher standard, and they put up with a lot of crap because of the badge they wear. But if they weren’t there? You would have the Wild Wild West again, and rent a cops would take their place. And yes, the cop was absolutely out of line. He works for the state of Texas so good luck with a suit.
Be careful what you wish for
