But none of that makes what he did assault. Calling that shoulder check assault is just utterly retarded.
Except, as pointed out by other posters, if it was reversed it would have been a criminal offense. So yes, it was assault and you need to present facts to say it wasn’t, not just your feelings.

A shoulder bump to a football player in shoulder pads. That is assault

You know who you're responding to so be careful. He won't be right but he will badly argue his incorrect point for hours.

Not a single piece of fact or evidence in your statement. Does a person have to be injured for it to be assault? Also, you do realize that attempted assault is also a crime in many jurisdictions.

Calling that assault is fricking stupid.

This player is the new definition of "pussy".
No wonder everybody beat USCe

Where is the compassion for this player who was bumped?
Has anyone bothered to ask him how he is healing?
How is he coping with the after-effects of this debilitating impact?
He may never play sports again.

The guy lost his job, that’s enough punishment.
He didn’t lose his job, he lost the ability to work game days. He is still a police officer
“ Adaway's attempts to learn the trooper's name have come up short. Neither Texas A&M Police nor the Texas Department of Public Safety declined to provide identification, even after Adaway called campus police to report an assault. Adaway said he wants to know the trooper's name and to receive an apology.”
Public officials shouldn’t hide

I ask you, in your emotional state, what strict punishment for the Trooper, or dollar amount for the poor victim, would make you happy?
Trooper loses job is the bare minimum. I don’t want people like that in authority.

Bwahaha,
Texas here. It's not that I "care", as I'm to busy laughing. Laughing because the aggy is going to get the stink of the shite for brains trooper all over A&M. The infrequent sports observer isn't going to go further than to associate Texas A&M police with assault on an opposing teams player. I saw the game, you saw the game, many here saw, and we all know what happened. A Texas State Trooper was out of line, but ultimately A&M will suffer in the public opinion of the occasional fan through no fault of A&M. You can see even in this thread of knowledgeable fans, the aggy has to defend themselves for nothing they've done, they're compelled to.
.......The everyday aggy can get blamed for fricking up an anvil, even minding their own business and doing nothing.
The BOMC LIVES! aggys know it, and there ain't a damn thing they can do about it.

This is ridiculous and an amazing amount of entitlement. Dollars to donuts they file a lawsuit against TSP too.

Yep there is an ambulance chaser involved and he sees what he thinks is deep pockets.
I'm a lawyer and can tell you this is not it. First, it was a criminal, not civil, complaint that was filed. I doubt a civil complaint will ever be filed because there are no damages. What's interesting is the cop has never been identified. Filing the complaint creates the potential for a public record. I think just shaming that cop is the goal here.

Good. If that was just an A&M fan we’d be in agreement that was simple assault.
He lost his temper because his team was getting humiliated. He escalated a situation with a firearm on his person making forcible class b misdemeanor contact.
IF the athlete would have instinctively pushed back to respond contact for contact he could be dead.
Cops can’t do that. The law is the law and a message should bs sent and I’d say the same if this was a Mizzou situation.

Good for the young man. That cop needs to at least own his behavior publicly and apologize for it. If it was me I would have done so the next day

This is so fricking stupid. People need to stop feeding the lawyers over petty shite that has already been handled. 95% of what is wrong with our culture is this shite right here and the fear that someone is going to try to sue or press charges on stupid shite. Add in shitty judges who allow these cases to even make it to trial and now you have a system flooded with stupid shite like this.

I guess this is South Carolina’s version of an NIL deal.

For a refresher. Trooper makes no effort to at least acknowledge or sidestep players. As for players, #28 attempts to turn shoulders to allow trooper to pass, #8 makes no effort, but appears to be looking out into the field.
DPS (Department of Public Safety) Trooper gets his knickers in a twist by his reaction. Aggy gonna be guilty by association, and no apolopgy or update on investigation issued yet.
