I applaud your bravery and honesty in dealing with your disease. It is very hard to accept that you have depression and even harder to tell people about it. We can disagree on a lot of things, but in this battle I am with you and all of the people dealing with depression.
You are fighting the good fight and to that I say, "Good. for. you!!"

I’ve been very open on this site about my battle with clinical chronic depression. We all fight our demons; yet mental illness is still considered a personal weakness, even though those who suffer did nothing to develop nor deserve it.
If you need glasses, you get help. But if you have symptoms of persistent depressive disorder, society says it’s about you and your [lack of] character.
I can’t do much (anything?)—apart from visiting my physicians and trying to stay healthy myself. But I’ve always said that, when given the social media opportunity, I would speak out about acknowledging clinical chronic depression.
If you suspect that someone whom you know may be suffering alone, reach out. You’ll never know what it can do.
I see a few people are accusing you of virtue signaling or whatever.
It's brave to put yourself out there like this. Most days I have to force myself out of bed. Could be depression, could be laziness, I honestly don't know.
I do know I've seen men who I respected the hell out of commit suicide. Men who seemed to have it all and were envied by many.
We are often our own worst enemies. Talking about it is a good thing. Far too many, especially young men, talk to no one else and end up taking their lives and leaving their families to grieve feeling helpless knowing it's too late to help save them. I couldn't do that to my family and that's pretty much all that gets me through the day.
Kudos to the Hilinski family for using their grief and pain to help others. Thanks for starting this thread.

It’s times like these when I wish this site had a PM feature.
My first suggestion: Go to sleep.
Being suicidal is, in some ways, a form of total emotional exhaustion. Sometimes I’m simply tired of having to force myself out of bed each morning to take all of these medications that don’t seem to be working.
Struggling with your mental health day in and day out drains your tank. When you’ve reached your limit, it can feel as though you’re too broken and need a way out. If you don’t have a prescription (e.g., Trazadone, Ambien) get some Melatonin or Benadryl over-the-counter.
AND MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE A PHYSICIAN.
When you feel completely alone, reach out. I’m here for you—I wish there was a way for me to communicate that with you privately. You may feel like no one understands what you’re going through, but I can listen.
When I’m feeling at my worst, I know the most extreme decision I can make is try to go it alone. Sometimes you have to ignore the part of your brain that tells you it isn’t worth it, and just pick up the phone anyway. If you don’t feel like talking, having someone on the other side can still be comforting. Contact a crisis hotline by texting HOME to 741741. It can get your mind off of things by communicating anonymously with a compassionate person.

for those suffering with Depression, please seek help.
my wife and I have a close friend that tried to take her own life because she never asked us for help, and we honestly had no idea what personal battles she was fighting.
she has since recovered from the attempt, and is trying to right her life - and we are there for her to help her with anything and everything.
it may not always seem like it, but there are people that are here for you in some form or fashion.

Maybe folks are just DVing the post because they would hate for you to do something like that. I know I would hate that if you did.
I've been in a few dark places in my life. I've self medicated, and that never really works.
If things are as serious as they sound, reach out to those that love you. You're already reaching out here, so that tells me that you want help. Unfortunately, due to the anonymity of this place, I don't think any of us are in a real position to help. But if you were serious up above, please, please, please find someone who can.
Hang in there brother and don't do anything irrational. Keep talking. We're here for you.

Being an Aggie fan hard not to be.
Sorry that was bad.
Like you said we all have our demons for sure and mental issues can be very hard to deal with. I honestly wish you the best.

I had a therapist tell me once upon a time, you never really know what folks are dealing with.

I try to remember that before I get mad at someone. A lot of people are dealing with a lot of problems and grief you'll never know about but they quietly soldier on.
We all need to take a breath once in a while and reflect on that.
Modern life is a lot to cope with. I'm not saying I want to go back to living like our ancestors and having to live off the land and fight tooth and nail to protect your home and everything you own. But these days many of us have become so disconnected from what makes human beings happy deep down. We are built to hunt, gather, run, pillage, etc. Not sit in a cubicle and punch a keyboard and consume mass produced products we had nothing to do with producing.
I think I'm going to go home and watch Office Space, quit my job and become a truck driver.

It's easy for people to promote this when they know they're getting an easy W. You think if we were Top 5 playing LSU or Bama their fans would be bringing this up?
Or it's just people looking for brownie points on an internet message board. It's like coaches like Saban trying to explain how Duke is a good opponent and the game will be tough.
Shut the frick up, a-hole. Some things happen to be bigger than football..this is one of them. The fact that you're too obtuse to comprehend that fact speaks volumes about YOU and no one else.
Pull whatever burr that is stuck up your cornhole out or just excuse your sorry arse self from this thread.
You're a damn embarrassment to our fanbase and to our University.
ETA: Apologies to EKG and everyone else in this thread who realizes the brevity of this topic and all it encompasses on behalf of one (apparently) very jaded Gamecock who decided to take this thread in a very inappropriate direction.

I care and there are many others that do as well. I hope that you are able to talk to someone who can help.
