South Carolina QB’s brother + Mental Illness = How you can help

Texas A&M plays South Carolina this week.
Hilinski’s Hope
I’ve been very open on this site about my battle with clinical chronic depression. We all fight our demons; yet mental illness is still considered a personal weakness, even though those who suffer did nothing to develop nor deserve it.
If you need glasses, you get help. But if you have symptoms of persistent depressive disorder, society says it’s about you and your [lack of] character.
I can’t do much (anything?)—apart from visiting my physicians and trying to stay healthy myself. But I’ve always said that, when given the social media opportunity, I would speak out about acknowledging clinical chronic depression.
If you suspect that someone whom you know may be suffering alone, reach out. You’ll never know what it can do.
God bless the Hilinski family.

Your donation in support of Hilinski’s Hope will allow us to fund programs that will help educate, advocate and destigmatize mental illness. Programs such as Step UP!, a comprehensive bystander intervention program created by the University of Arizona in partnership with the NCAA.Step Up. As well as Behind Happy Faces, the first of its kind in mental health curriculum. The program uses cutting edge educational videos and lesson plans to enhance the emotional development of young people. Tyler was never diagnosed or treated for any disease but through his suicide we understand that he was suffering in silence.

Why you gotta go and do this and make me hate yall a little less? Similar to what UGA did for the opposing coach's wife earlier this season. Class act.
At the end of the day it's just football and some things are bigger than that. Good on the Aggie fans for getting this going.

Don't you want to throw in how shitty our football program is historically and how bad you all are going to beat us Saturday? No? Maybe some of your brethren will come in here and muck this up too.

Nah.
That’s not my thing.

Totally uncalled for in this thread my bro.

Very Cool. Many props.
Depression is no joke. Fought with it (and won) when I was in grad school. Thank goodness I didn't do anything stupid back then.

It's easy for people to promote this when they know they're getting an easy W. You think if we were Top 5 playing LSU or Bama their fans would be bringing this up?
Or it's just people looking for brownie points on an internet message board. It's like coaches like Saban trying to explain how Duke is a good opponent and the game will be tough.
How much have you donated EKG?

You're trying way too hard to make this into something it isn't. Its a nice gesture to another human.

Step away from the keyboard man. It's a thread about an opposing fan base making a nice gesture for a good cause. This is a weird thing to be upset about.
Aggies

Good for you Aggies!
EKG, thanks for posting this. The effects of mental illness, especially clinical depression are devastating.
We need to remove the stigma so all can receive the treatment they need.

Sorry I'm a little salty because I can't expect an opposing fan (especially during the week of playing them) to bring this up for any other reason other than 'look at me look at me' brownie points.
How can I when our own State newspaper uses it for their punchline headline?
Yes it still makes me mad. Also, if you ever donate to a charity or something do you feel the need to announce it to the world?

I want to kill myself every day, but I'm too much of a pussy, and my parents are still alive.

The person who started this push is named Emily. Women are emotional.

Who do you think we are? LSU fans?

Can yall not turn it off for one thread? Geez.

Hey look. The world we live in where I said I want to kill myself and I get 3 downvotes. I'm not even joking about that. I also wouldn't dare explain to any of you here why I want to because it would just be used against me. Yep, the world we live in folks.

Well, it's hard to tell what is what on this board. If you really feel that way then please seek help and I mean that. Not being my usual a-hole self.
