Martin is a curious case. He built a solid program, only to get snubbed by the tournament 2 years in a row. Finally gets in, damn near wins the thing. Hovers around mediocrity, and alienates the fanbase and administration with juvenile tirades and immaturity on the sidelines. Gets fired, goes on the trash the university and athletic department. Leaves a dumpster fire for the next guy.
I liked Martin his first five years. His last five were awful.

I thought maybe this photo was from his UMass team losing to UMass-Lowell earlier this year but turns out it was from his milestone win - that snapped a 7 game losing streak.

Frank's a good guy. The politics and covid beat him down, mostly the politics ... it was probably time for him to make a change but I'll say this, the absolute bullshite he had to endure over piddly shite with some kids being kids with a BB Gun the summer after the Final Four .... Ray Tanner can kiss my arse. No other program in the country would have canned six kids over that episode and hung their HC out to dry in an impossible situation.

Frank bout got himself fired this week at umass. He won’t last till end of the year unfortunately

What was the deal with Martin's politics? I must be forgetting. Did he go full on woke tard on everyone or was he getting in trouble fighting woke tardness resulting in him starting to be seen as too problematic for the woke college crowd?

Frank is anything but woke. He's about as middle of the road as someone may be.

Internal politics. Lots of kids who were kicked off the team well above his head, difficulty getting others in.
Martin also really struggled to play the AAU recruiting game in-state. His best talent after Thornwell and Dozier were out of country. The politics regarding recruiting AAU SC talent was a hellacious hull for him to climb, and he didn't likely get the support he needed internally.
Scrooster is right. Tanner is his own athletic department's worst enemy.

Average coach, doesnt take accountability. He is good for soundbites but doesnt practice what he preaches.

Oof, Rooster usually I like your posts but this aint it. Firstly, Frank needed to chill out. Admin at KSU didnt like him at the end for his tirades and we slowed those down at SC. Secondly, the BB gun incident is a serious incident. If I got caught on campus doing that id get thrown out of school. Silva was lucky to not get thrown off.
Ray Tanner gets blamed for everything, including this case with the LB transfer (which he had nothing to do with). Tanner was right to get Frank to not sit on the sidelines and say every cuss word in the book at his players. There are ways of getting your point across other than that.
Frank could try recruiting worth a damn. We got Sindarius because UNC told him he would be better to go to SC. His recruiting after the final 4 was shite, and his coaching was too. Umass fans right now are going nuts that his awful son plays 20min a game.
