Softball and gym still doesn't stop them from doing Sooner things.

It started there because it was centrally located and the USA Softball Hall of Fame was there... and they had a stadium that was a reasonably large (for the time) stadium.

Now it is there because it is about four times larger than any other softball stadium in the country.

They really can't hold it anywhere else until someone else builds something similar.

As for OU having an advantage? Well yeah... but I've seen OU football teams play LSU in Baton Rouge for a national championship. I've seen OU play Miami in their home stadium for a national championship. I've seen OU play Florida and Florida State in Miami for national championships....

Sometimes things aren't fair. And until somebody else builds a comparable stadium... it will continue to be unfair!

So these people need to start saving those dimes and nickels to build a softball stadium in Birmingham or wherever.

Oklahoma’s softball run is similar to Connecticut’s run in Women’s Basketball. It has been amazing but at some point it will come to an end. There are a lot of good softball programs out there but they have raised the bar even higher. And for the time being they are the best.

Reminder:

The 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Alabama will include all 16 teams in a single-elimination format. Teams seeded 9-16 will play on Day 1. Teams seeded 5-8 will get a bye to Day 2. Teams seeded 1-4 will get a double-bye to Day 3

This could never be played in Norman as its a small crowd limit park. And I’m ok with that.

I Imagine the SEC tournament will eventually moved to OKC where the Big 12 tournament has.been played for years. What softball player wouldn't want to play in that enviroment?

I'm sure there will be some pushback against that... but again. For the SEC tournament... OKC would probably draw about 7-10K per session and probably more than that for the final if OU were in it.

It would draw three times more fans than any other venue in the conference could possibly draw. .

As a fan I actually would enjoy like the rotating campus sites... but for generating income... I'd want it to be in OKC.

As a coach I'd probably want it to be in OKC so that the team would be used to the park and the routines involved in playing in OKC.

OU plays 2 reg season games there and one is an SEC team. Will be a great experience for MSST.

I bet I’ve seen LSU win just as many nattys and have just as many All-Americans in my lifetime as you’ve seen with OU in yours.

Patty Gasso is 1,515–352–2 (.811) with 8 national championships in 30 years at OU. She is #3 among D1 college softball coaches in wins & is #1 in winning %. Her 8 titles has her tied with Arizona’s Mike Candrea (1986-2021; 34 seasons) with the most D1 softball championships…that was a copy and paste. holy hell. I just saw this stat on fb. I never cared too much for softball but as a former baseball player, I can respect it. She’s been coaching for 30 years?! Jeezus… I know is chick sport but how does this objectively rank in sports if they get 5 in a row? I was thinking of watching their Netflix doc on Netflix with my mom this week. She thought it was cool so I couldn’t say no. How is South Carolina so good but doesn’t get their flowers in women’s sports?
