Good friend of mine who is a college coach is being told that Clemson UNC and FSU are trying hard to come the SEC. Miami to the big ten is pretty much a done deal. SMU and TCU are headed to the pac 12. Acc is about to take the rest of the American

Looks like you guys could use a member institution that:

a) works for cheap
b) provides exciting experiences for out of town visitors
c) experience in dealing with those pesky "rules" committees
d) adds a little bit of ethnic flair
e) you guys like the Grizzlies right? Sure you do, everybody likes the Grizzlies. We got those guys.
f) Airport you say? Heck yeah we got one of those!
g) Tailgating/Food? You seen all the fat fricks we got around here? Please, we got good food

Please accept this as the formal application from the University of Memphis

Sure they will. But they aren't adding anything. Adding the NC/VA schools would effectively lock the B??G out of any move to add teams south of Mason/Dixon. Because they covet AAU status. UNC,VA,GT,Pitt and Miami are AAU. Not sure on NCSU or Duke. Adding VA/NC gives the SEC a new footprint to work with.

Clemson has done a good job building that program (through the assistance of the churches in Greenvile) but that still aren't the most popular school in state. USC is. And FSU is a shell of itself both financially and athletically

I think once you lock down VA/NC then you double down with some combo of Clemson/FSU/Miami/Duke/GT. This may all be moot, as the B??G will need to add more teams from the west to even out travel. But i wouldn't give them the option of going South.

I have zero desire to expand even further, but if I had to make a choice, I want Tulane (throwing an old, SEC member a life raft... plus, they can be the Vandy of the West with that sweet, AAU status), Georgia Tech, Florida State, and Clemson. Outside of that, I have no desire to see anything else.

This. The size of a conference is effectively limited by the length of the football schedule. If you don't play someone regularly, you aren't really in the same conference with them. That's why the SEC is trying to revamp the schedule. Adding more members, beyond 16, makes that harder to accomplish.

Go to four divisions of five members.

AAU and research money makes the athletic revenue look like peanuts, and as a result, the idea that we shouldn't take GA Tech is asinine.

I haven't met a Fsu yet that's begging to come to the Sec. We are happy where we are and feel as though we will rise again and be great. We don't need the Sec for that. Now if we joined the Sec or any other conference we will roll with the punches.

Not doubting your friend but SEc would need 1 more I hope that's UVA or VT.

SMU and tcu to the pac is interesting because didn't the pac not want them due to them being private religious school?

Also it would make way more sense for Big 12 and ACC to just merge rather than keep taking scraps from American

If the SEC goes to something like 26 members, I’m curious to see if they ultimately add more games to schedule. There’s no way they can schedule rivalries while allowing you to play everyone in your conference frequently.

It would still be worst than what they have now with only 12 games. You would have to have at least 15 games in a season, something like the NFL.
3 Annual, 11 Rotating Biannual, and 1 Non-conference.
