Nick is the GOAT, no question in my mind. And I think as much as Kirby learned from Nick, Nick learned from Kirby. Both great coaches who earned each other’s respect on and off the field.

Not sure Kirby exactly knew, but I don't think that exchange was how it would have gone years ago.

Of course he knew. The CFP committee knew as well. Why else would they give him one last shot and exclude an undefeated P5 conference champ?
