If you take the total number of points that each team accumulated in the preseason AP Poll and assign that as a value for each team.... then total up the value of each team's opponents, here is how the schedules of the SEC rank
**For Example, if a team plays Clemson it gets 1,540 points since that is how many points Clemson secured as the #1 team in the preseason poll
1. Auburn- 6,951
2. S. Carolina- 6,462
3. Texas A&M- 6,318
4. LSU- 5,072
5. Arkansas- 4,329
5. Ole Miss- 4,329
7. Tennessee- 4,172
8. Miss St.- 4,125
9. Vanderbilt- 3,788
10. Georgia- 3,660
11. Florida- 3,382
12. Alabama- 2,731
13. Kentucky- 2,676
14. Missouri- 2,472
The fact that there could be such a discrepancy between the strength of Auburn's schedule and Missouri's yet they are playing for the same league title is alarming. Auburn plays six teams in the Preseason Top 12. Missouri plays three teams in the Top 47.
If you look at this on a National level, here are how the AP Top 25 schedules rank in strength from toughest to easiest:
1. Auburn. 6,951
2. Texas A&M- 6,318
3. LSU- 5,072
4. Michigan- 4,033
5. Georgia- 3,660
6. Michigan St.- 3,449
7. Florida- 3,382
8. Stanford- 3,302
9. Wisconsin- 3,293
10. Penn St.- 3,139
11. Texas- 2,895
12. Notre Dame- 2,765
13. Alabama- 2,731
14. Iowa St.- 2,729
15. Ohio St.- 2,716
16. Iowa- 2,648
17. Washington St.- 2,562
18. Washington- 1,975
19. Nebraska- 1,968
20. Oregon- 1,710
21. Syracuse- 1,540
22. Oklahoma- 1,370
23. Clemson- 1,076
24. Utah- 991
25. UCF- 141
**First off, Clemson's schedule is a joke. They play one single team (at home) that is ranked in the preseason Top 20.
**Oklahoma's is also a joke. They also play just one Preseason Top 20 opponent which is Texas in Dallas.
There has got to be a way for big time college football to even up the strength of schedules. Is it fair for Auburn, Texas A&M, and LSU to all have to play such difficult schedules while Clemson and Oklahoma get an essential cakewalk to the Playoff? They are all vying for the same goal of reaching the Playoff, and its completely not fair for Clemson and Oklahoma to get such easy paths.

Yea - and it isn't OU or Clemson's fault, but it's not even comparable. Both from a record standpoint and from a wear/tear/every week grind standpoint.

Yeah, it is the main reason AU fans are calling for a balance in scheduling.

Imagine a PAC 12 team - Notre Dame - and a Big 12 team having tougher schedules than you.
Yikes.

Its not our fault Kentucky, Tennessee, and South Carolina can't get votes.

A one-loss SEC team should get into the CFP over either Oklahoma or Clemson.
It's that simple.

10-12 teams per conference, some regulations on who you can play OOC would handle it.

A&M and auburn schedules this year are brutal assuming the ranked teams are legitimate. It’s pretty impressive looking at it.

Good work, BHM. Very interesting.
The only reason Texas is high on the list is because of LSU. If not for playing them, they'd be right down there with OU.

South Carolina received votes, along with Miss. State & Missouri.

Is SOS really worth talking about before anyones even played a game?

It'll be interesting to compare these pre-season SOS Rankings with the SOS Rankings prior to the conference championship games.
ETA: Yeah, basically was LouisvilleKat said. While interesting, I don't think it means much right now.

But you get all that SEC money!
Quit bitching about the schedule and go earn that paycheck your school's are getting.

LSU posters should stay away from "aint played no one" chatter.

SEC teams do earn their checks. Heck we're making fun of Mizzou for their easy schedule.... unbelievably soft for SEC standards... yet there are still 8 teams in the preseason AP Top 25 with easier schedules, including Clemson.
Clemson fans should be embarrassed. If you want to call yourself elite its time to act like it. You can't help the fact you play in a cream puff conference, but you can go out and significantly upgrade your OOC schedule to try to earn some respect.
Yes, you play A&M this year. South Carolina is a traditional rival, so you have to play them.
But why play Wofford and Charlotte OOC when you already have a schedule loaded with cupcakes like NC State (#46), UNC (#54), Wake Forest (#59), Boston College (#65), Louisville (#66), and Georgia Tech (#82)?.... rankings courtesy of ESPN FPI.
Clemson should be lining up a minimum of 3 Power Conference OOC opponents until the ACC proves its capable of producing a half decent counter to Clemson in league play. Otherwise, your opening your program up for ridicule during the regular season.

That's pathetic for a so-called national championship contender defending.
The A She She is a joke.

They are the national champions. They don't need any more respect.
What doesn't earn one respect is inbred, whiny, SEC,SEC, SEC! arguments. Have an SEC team win back the title, and the arguments of the lesser 12 will still by whiny and silly, but at least they won't be conpletely pathetic.
