The quality of football seems to be in decline.

And despite the extra games, the schedule differences are so great at times it's hard to tell.

In reality, it should have been Oregon vs Georgia.

Yes?

Notre Dame beat Indiana, SEC champ, Big Ten runner up
Ohio State beat Tennessee, Big Ten champ, SEC runner up

Both teams earned it.

But each of them lost to the two teams that are going to play for the title

So explain your logic

If Freeman finds a way to beat Ohio State then he deserves all of the accolades being heaped on him, and more.

I think they probably get blown out.

Going into the playoffs UGA and Texas were both anemic and inconsistent. OSU became red hot late, so at least the best team in CFB is playing. We’ll see if Notre Dame can keep up.

That would be so funny, because it would basically be a recreation of the BCS system with more steps.

Ohio State is on paper the "best" team and they are there.

2nd best team is hard to say, there was nobody else really that stood out.

Probably Oregon but Ohio State already beat them.

I think it played out pretty good. You had a chance for an underdog Cinderella story because of the 12 team playoff, no one was ready to upset the field and take the crown though.

After 1st week I was a playoff hater...but it redeemed itself. Move the games up a week or two, fix the seeding and I think the playoff will work great most years.

Somethinjg was "off" all season with Georgia and Texas. Seemed like they been really good but something was missing.

A single game doesn't decide the strength of a team, and they were played after the fact. By your logic the 2 teams that make it will always be the two best because you're using them winning the playoff games as justification while ignoring the regular season.

Ohio St lost to Michigan as their last game of the season for example. They also lost to Oregon earlier in the season. Notre Dame had an even worse lose and played an easy schedule.

Oregon went undefeated the entire regular season and won the Big10.

Georgia had a couple of losses, but also won the SEC.

Those were the best 2 teams at the end of the season.

Ohio state changed after Michigan beat them. Polls can't show that.

And yet, who did Notre Dame just beat?
