Just admit you have no clue how recruiting rankings work.

And as for your comment that Mullen is recruiting better than expected, that’s ridiculous.

Florida should be in the Top 5 every year. They struggle to get into the Top 10 and will not even come close this year.

247 Composite AVG

2018
#1 Georgia: 94.23
#14 Florida: 90.75

2019
#2 Georgia: 93.32
#9 Florida: 90.56

2020
#1 Georgia: 92.95
#9 Florida: 90.74

2021
Georgia: 92.30
Florida: 89.97

Schools recruit themselves. Coaches have some effect but it’s minimal. I could take over at LSU tomorrow and finish with a top 10 class

As others have said, Mullen's class ranking right now is inflated due to a total commit advantage that won't exist on signing day. In terms of average recruit ranking his class is 15th in the country and over 10 spots behind UGA.

Mullen is a good coach, and will pull in a decent class, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's still 0-3 vs. Kirby and has 2 career wins over P5 teams who finished with 10 wins.

Why does Mullen have such a good in game coach reputation?

All Kirby has done is kick his a$$

It's a narrative that has some truth, but the unfortunate thing about narratives is once they get set people ignore evidence that disconfirms it.

Like what happened in the 2019 Cocktail Party
Wrong wristbands causes Florida to waste timeouts

If by freakout you mean providing simple data to show that Mullen's class will not finish close to Georgia's then yes, we are freaking out big time.

I'll admit that of all the coaches who have zero division titles and 0-3 records against Kirby, Mullen makes me freakout the most.

Recruiting rankings and poll rankings on September 29th don't mean anything at all, especially in a season like this. Very odd thing to find interesting.

straight up for a game Mullen vs Kirby Smart I think most folks would take Mullen

Mullen is 0-3 vs Smart and hasn’t scored more than 17 against him. Weird that an “offensive guru” can’t get 3 touchdowns against such a mediocre coach. Pruitt isn’t known for his offense, but he’s been able to score about the same amount of points against Smart.

The recruiting is just alright. Most people that are Florida fans are aware of that. It's better than McElwain and Muschamp (especially from a class balancing perspective) but it's no where near Meyer and not even as good as Zook.

Obviously the on the field results have been pretty good. But really, that's only because he lucked out, Franks got hurt, and Trask was allowed to play. I think he has done a good job rebuilding the disaster that he inherited, but still am not sure if he can get Florida over the championship hump.

It’s not a UF thread. He mentions Georgia three times in the OP.

Either Florida's D is not very good or Ole Miss has a really good offense.

Or we were short 5 defensive starters which probably doesn’t matter at all.

Florida should recruit top 10 every year based on name alone and the talent in state.

The only time we were out of the top ten was Mullen's first year when he took over after McElwain who basically imploded.

We've been in the top ten the last two years, will probably end up top ten this year, too.

Maybe he was just a lazy recruiter at MSST since there's nothing to actually sell people? Especially when he took over, he provided a lot for the guys who came in after him.

well now UF is ranked #7 in the nation according to 247, and ahead of UGA.

True. Did you realize that Florida has 24 commits and Georgia has 15?

Ban bet Georgia finishes ahead of Florida in recruiting this year?

This is a good place to note that UF is also ranked above UGA in this weeks AP poll.
Yep. They deserve it until we get our act together, but if you are putting all your faith in the first week of rankings....well, maybe you should see how much they changed last year from this point in the season until the end.

I'm barely interested in the UF vs UGA series, but interesting to watch this.

Well watch closely, I'd hate for you to miss anything.

Straight up for a game Kirby is 3-0 against Mullen, so straight up for a game you would lose, apparently. You along with "most people".

Even Shark fricker had top 15 recruiting classes at Florida. It's virtually impossible to not recruit well there. Florida is a place that recruit itself. You just have to not frick it up.
