Who cares what the rest of the conference thinks or how the search went. Most AU fans are happy about the hire but want to see the staff he puts together and results on the field.

Leach is a household name that has won what exactly? Not one conference championship and a losing bowl record. You will be looking for a new coach inside of 3-4 years.

And I stand by what I typed. Your only source is two beat writers that were wrong with every post. Ron Sanders and Phillip Marshall are hacks and this coaching search proved it.

You state "Your only source", yet you yourself just pointed out 4 different sources. Why would people, whose livelihood are tied to Auburn athletics, lie about what was going down behind the scenes? What would they have to gain by making up the infighting that was going on? They reported it because they felt what was going on was hurting the search so they needed to call it out and try to curtail it.
Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. And the whole booster angle isn't a new concept at Auburn. Heck, the boosters have been noted as interfering with Auburn athletics for a while now (does Jet Gate ring a bell)? To say there wasn't a battle between some boosters and your AD is just burying your head in the sand.
But your AD stood up against it, and went out and got someone outside the "family", so it worked out for you guys this time. Just hope and pray that those boosters don't hold a grudge.

They as an Auburn fan y’all should be pissed. Because this is a straight panic hire. The dream coach said no. Then the next big name used y’all as leverage for a raise, 2 other guys that made sense interviewed but declined. Another guy said no thanks and the administration got real pushback from a guy that wanted it so they panic hired a guy that is an unknown.
He might be the best fit and turn into a solid hire but please don’t lie to yourself pretending this was the plan all along. It obviously wasn’t.

Poor dumbass MSU fan. If you read all my post, I said the list will show AU is not as dysfunctional as some in the press want you to believe. I think that showed to be true with this hire. Man , there are slot of people here that are butthurt that Steele WASNT hired. Lol.

They won the title while on probation in '93 (and '57) and again in '04 while not participating in the BCS title game, which was the only recognized national title during that time? Good to know.
