Best four teams, not best four conference champs. Don't know why this is so damn hard for you understand, unless you're an idiot.

0% chance of happening. UGA would get left out
A) you're an idiot
B) you're trolling
C) all of the above

I choose C.

Bama’s best win last year was against MSU, and they got in. The Playoff is just an Invitational Tournament for ratings.

The only way to make the CFP fair(er), is to name the four teams prior to the conference championships. That will never happen, so we'll all have to live with this anomaly in the meanwhile.

As far as Notre Dame goes, this is one season that I think they are quite deserving of being in the playoffs. That is a solid ball team.

In 2012 I thought the Irish were a team propped up by the ESPN hype machine. Manti Te'o won every award given to mankind; he was a really good player, but not that good. I watched several of their games, and didn't think they could stay on the field with Alabama, or Georgia. This season is a different story.

I hate ND as much as the next person but IMO if they win this weekend they deserve to be in...They have played coast to coast and on paper a pretty good schedule....Beat No.4 Michigan and dismantled Cuse and VT on the road...beat Stanford...Beat Pitt who's won their division....Beat Northwestern who's won their division...When you schedule teams like FSU and USC you can't help it if they suck.

Sure, the conference championship game has tremendous ability to help your team if you win it. Cant have all the positives without a negative. Notre Dame deserves a spot if they finish undefeated

Notre Dame deserves a spot in the same way that UCF does.

Notre Dame will get blown out by either Alabama or Clemson, just like UCF would be.

Is that fair?

Is it fair? You're asking that question about Bama potentially missing out on the playoffs? Is it fair that Bama doesn't even have to win their division to get into the playoffs? Nobody is given second chances like Bama. Is it fair Bama always gets the better end of the deal on officiating?

If Bama loses UGA, they won't fall below #2 or 3.

...I also think believe if UGA beats Bama, they'll leapfrog Dame.

Best case scenario is if Ohio St. beats Michigan. That leaves the Big 10 completely out of the discussion and USC somehow manages to stay close to Dame.

That way you have Clemson, Bama, UGA and probably Oklahoma or Washington St. as the final 4.

The only way Bama is out of the final 4 is if they drop their last 2.

I honestly don't think the Iron Bowl matters at this point for Bama's CFP chances.

Don't let this secret out. It is true. Alabama could lose the Iron Bowl 48-0, then beat UGA 2-0, and make the playoffs. If you reverse those scores with Bama winning the Iron Bowl 48-0, losing to Georgia 2-0 and probably could be left out.

Funny how you didn't have a problem with other teams doing it but Alabama does and it makes you headline Rustlemania.

They'd be undefeated. The flip side is that it's almost certain that a 1 loss Bama/OU/OSU would get in ahead of them if they only had 1 loss. It's not all good for ND. Same as the problems the B12 had before they restarted their CC game.

Yeah, the Iron Bowl has been irrelevant since Bama beat MSU. Auburn doesn't even have the "play the spoiler" motivation this year. Not that they don't want to beat Bama, just that they have no additional motivation like winning the West or playing the spoiler or playing for an NY6 bowl this season.

It is absolutely stunning how little people understand about how all this works

If bama loses, bama is not going to go to playoffs over clemson/uga/michigan/nd/oklahoma. It's impossible, it's simply not going to happen.

I'm sure pepole thought in 2007 that UGA, which began conference champ weekend ranked 4th, was in good shape after both #1 AND #2 lost, yet we actually fell to 5th. Why? Because other teams WINS jumped them over us. If all that above plays out, your playoffs will be clemson/uga/nd/michigan. Bama wouldn't have a chance.

This too. ND's problem is a magnified version of the problem Bama has faced recently in season openers. The names are good -- FSU, Michigan, etc -- but they can't force the programs to have a great season. Luckily for ND, Michigan is doing well, which compensates for USC doing poorly.
