Our football facilities now match those of the Big 6, therefore our claims of tradition should, too. In order to go full gump, we need to erect a statue of Bear Bryant in the center of one of the roundabouts at Commonwealth Stadium (maybe it should be Bear Bryant Stadium). We're in the game, baws.

Making fake trophies is so cheap. If you went 9-2, lost the orange Bowl to OU and were not awarded a trophy, live with it (1967 vols)

started awarding those to coaches poll champions that won it prior to the trophy existing in 1986.
Kentucky just ripped it off. Like some back alley rip off some guy sold them.

I do find it interesting that you claim to care so little yet you started the initial thread bitching about this trophy business and you're still trying to throw shade like Mizzou is a Big 6 SEC program.

So would a poorly constructed trophy be anymore damning than LSU trying to run Miles out of the building or Mizzou and their racial protest debacle?
The reality is I'm glad they're recognizing a team won the SEC with a 10-1 record and beat #1 Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl (unfortunately the polls were "decided" before the bowls). And I'm glad UK really doesn't give a frick what other SEC fans or a hack like Clay Travis thinks.

For the record Kentucky had a great season that year. I would fully support their claim to a national title but they lost to one of the other teams that claims it.
If Kentucky had beaten the Vols that year they deserve the title. Were they a great team? Oh God yes. If they had managed to keep Bryant from wandering they'd likely have a shite load of titles in basketball and football.
Can Kentucky win a football championship? Yes. They have the recruiting footprint and I think the right coach can take them there but it will take some time to build things up.
