Was it all smoke screen? Or was it ink not drying before Texas stepped in? Was it bad ethics by Herman or your ad not giving a proper contract
I don’t know the answer, but I guarantee you that whatever it is, it was NOT LSU’s fault. Anytime something doesn’t go their way, it is due to some other reason beyond their control. Besides, the Fisher and Herman pursuits were a ruse in order to secure Coach Shrimpboat.

Why does it matter? When you are fortunate to have Coach O locked up to a long term contract you just count your blessings and pile up one victory after another . Because We comin’.

Herman is a bust at Texas. He won’t get them back to relevance. A&M is more likely to win a championship before UT.
The damage is done. You’ve got A&M, OU, LSU, BAMA and even Arkansas coming in and snagging kids that should be longhorns.
He had a top 3 class last year. But people focus too much on a recruiting ranking rather than putting it into context. It's like those '14 and '15 classes for Tennessee being ranked top 5, but they signed 64 kids combined in those two cycles. About 50% of them were 4* or higher.
Charlie Strong was bringing in roughly 45-50% 4* and higher in each class. Texas's 2018 class had 70% of their class 4* or higher, they are sitting at 67% right now with some big fish still left out there. He's recruiting fine, nobody is going to 'lock down' that state.
Generally speaking, after the top 12 or 15 recruits in each class those guys largely don't see the field in meaningful situations. There are obviously some exceptions (misevaluations, developed more, growth spurt, etc.) but usually they aren't contributing much

Do you know what we cancelled our series vs GT a few years ago that was set for 2019-20?
Yeah, I do, and I know why. Because it was mandated by B-Ham.
And yeah, I do, but the series was scheduled for 2021-22.
And yeah, I do ... when it was cancelled it was right at 2012 expansion time, maybe 2013, but the series had been scheduled prior to 2012 expansion ... I wanna say 2009.
Hell, I stood in Scotty's rail car and listened to Waddell explain the whole thing to us the night of the big birthday party when Spurrier was there. We had no choice.
It was, as still is, assumed that we will be moving to a 9 game conference schedule by 2021-22.
Now, may I ask, what does cancelling the Ga Tech series have to do with any of this GW?

You came in here talking shite and got your bitch-arse slapped-down.
That's typical whorne for you right there.
I'll type it again. Play a tougher schedule than us then talk shite about our schedule.
I'll type it again. Beat us once then talk shite to us.
You tapped out some bullshite on the board, got bitch slapped, then you wanna call someone else a keyboard warrior. Gosh damn where do some of you whornes get off being such gosh damn hypocritical pussies. You pick a fricking fight, you proceed to get bent over, then you back-up and cry about it.

For what it's worth, I originally meant to put why and not what. Didn't realize that until now. Wasn't implying you were unaware.

LSU needs to go all in on Stoops 2019. If that fails go pure shady and get Briles. Both would dominate at LSU.

I get it.
whorne fan over here talking trash about our schedule got me a little fired-up.
I just can't stand whorne fans. Hell, I've got cousins who, we can't even talk college football because they think they are so superior to everyone else. My A&M cousins, they're cool, they're good ole boys. But whorne fans are just douches.

Herman inherited a much better situation at Texas.
I agree with everything till this point. You can argue it was better but much better is a stretch.

He in his feelings over a simple response. Over a thread that has nothing to do with his team at that.

Herman wanted the Texas job
Texas job was not open
LSU job was open
Texas was set on keeping Strong
When LSU offered Herman, Herman agent went to Texas and forced their hand.
Alleva had no backup plan
LSU admin was not going to let Alleva get into bidding war for Herman or Fisher
I don't see LSU ever paying a head football coach $7 million.

Honestly I don't think Coach O is the coach because "Alleva had no backup plan."
It was ego pure and simple. A classic "you can't fire me because I quit!" sort of move.
Coach O was announced as the coach before Herman officially got the Texas job. Seems like once Joe was rejected by Herman he gave the job to the only other person that had interviewed so far so he could act like Herman's offer was pulled before Herman got officially hired at Texas.

I think your head coach is underrated. Yall are quietly putting a good class together for 19. Plus gus took Yall to the natty. Yeah yall didnt win but just making it is a accomplishment. Alot of programs would take gus in a heart beat. Unfortunately bama is putting pressure on yall.
