An SEC school starting a varsity hockey program and having it compete in the Big 10 would be weirdly neat.

Hockey is a very expensive sport to field a team with, especially in an area that hardly ever gets snow.

Lacrosse is the national sport of Canada -
Also - props to Florida. The women’s lax team is in the final four this weekend. Knocked off perennial powerhouses North Carolina and Virginia to get there.
SEC need lacrosse before anything that requires ice.

Simple answer.
SEC schools don't have scholarship hockey or wrestling teams because in this part of the country there's little fan interest in either. Lacrosse is closer to scholarship status than either of those in SEC country.

I don't know a single person who can tell me what constitutes an off sides in hockey. Including me.
It seems like it would be fun if this part of the country grew up with it but we see a snow accumulation once every 3-4 years. and I cant ever remember seeing a frozen pond south of Memphis.
