So Bama loses their DC and their QB Whisperer ...

DC Pruitt to the Vols
QB Whisperer Werner to the Gamecocks
Does it even cause a ripple in the Space-Tide Continuum?
Vols should benefit greatly.
Gamecocks should benefit greatly.
Einstein's E=MC² dictates that if you lose mass you lose energy or that in the process of expelling energy you lose mass.
Yet Saban lost Kirby and Kifin and didn't hiccup ... oh, wait, he did actually. Lost to Clemson.
So losing Pruitt is no big deal as long as DaBoll stays because Saban is the defense and Daboll is the offense and actual QB coach .... Werner is just the Whisperer.
So Bama is not really losing that much critical mass - not only that they are returning a ton of young talent.
But the Vols will benefit from gaining Pruitt and the Gamecocks will benefit from gaining Werner.
Mathematically all of that would seem impossible but still ... I can see how it might work, I guess.

Werner just comes back to Tuscaloosa, if daboll heads to the NFL.
But Alabama loses 3-4 assistants every year. The 2015 coaching staff produced five current head coaches alone.

Well, after 2007 Bama lost their OC (Applewhite) and demoted the DC (Steele). In 2008 they won the west and a year later they won the national title.
After 2011, they lost the OC (McElwain) and a year later they won the national title.
After 2013, they lost the OC (Nussmeyer), won the SEC a year later and the national title in 2015.
After 2015, they lost the DC and a year later won the SEC and went to the title game.
After 2016, they lost the OC and won the national title.
And that doesn't include the vast number of other assistants that have come and gone.
So, you tell me, does it look like coordinator and assistant turnover really makes much of a difference?

8-5 probably
That was more like to hapoen this year, than next, retrospectively speaking IMHO.
Again, evoking a bit of physics if you will ... this season should have been much more in doubt than next season shall be. Matter of fact, looking back and given that hindsight is 20-20 ... I can see exactly why Saban is happier than he has ever been yet I'm not sure it is completely obvious to mostz not even the most avid of Bama fans. It's two or even three fold and it's one of those things we should have never seen coming yet most everyone expected it. Crazy heady stuff.

Who believes that Saban/Alabama generally has trouble hiring coaches? Who doesn't believe that Saban has a plan for replacing every member of his staff, when the time comes?

It's pretty damn amazing what he continues to do year to year without many missteps. Hell, even your QB was lights out.
Great game and an even better win for you gumps.

I wonder if Shula will end up an analyst or assistant at Bama.

Bama staff has been a rotating door for a decade now and how many championships have they accumulated?

He didn't have much to do with Tua's success. Tua is naturally gifted as a passer in ways few people are, and his instincts on the field are incredible.

The only way to prevent coaching attrition is to hire mediocre coaches. You can have them forever. But if you hire good coaches they will always be on somebody's short list.
Hint: Alabama hires good coaches.
