I'd rather be good in both. However, I will watch neither no matter how good they are.

Yep, and at the same time I'll watch just about any football game.

My thread was clearly about the rising softball ratings.

well you did a poor job of elaborating your point.

College softball has the best players in the country playing. College baseball simply does not and it is painfully hard watching some of these games

I have been a Braves fan my entire life and went to my first Braves game in 1990, that’s what I pay attention to. Hell, I’ve been to more Birmingham Barons games than I’ve watched or been to college baseball games. The vast majority of college baseball players are just trying to live out a dream knowing they’ll never go pro, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Doesn’t change the product and it’s lack of entertainment. Worth reposting again but here is the baseball hierarchy:
Major League Baseball (MLB), Triple-A (AAA), Double-A (AA), Class A-Advanced (High A or A+), Class A (Low A), Class A Short Season, and Rookie......and then there is college baseball.

Was going to say something similar. Minor League basbeball is huge, around 8,000 players, many of which are around the same age as college players. And the absolute best of the best are already in the majors.

It sounds like they are celebrating having a good women's softball team more then ignoring their baseball team. Which was better then their record showed I might add.

What exactly is wrong with taking pride in a sport that your university is doing well in? I'm proud of the Arkansas women's track team and the two national titles they've won this year. It doesn't mean that I don't watch, or prefer, other sports.

As for the ratings... it is what it is. As folks have pointed out, especially after the Olympics nuked softball, this is pretty much your only chance to watch quality softball all year unless you are willing to stay up till 4 in the morning for a pro softball game. The ratings are going to be pretty good.

Not sure why but I do enjoy softball much more than college baseball...it'd be nice to be good in both but I'll take softball. We're going to be nasty next season.

Nice post and I agree wholeheartedly. I’m very similar - been to a ton of Barons games, to many minor league ballparks, AND to many a major league park (will be at a Reds game in a couple of weeks) while out of town. Plus, I’d rather go than watch these days on TV.

I’d rather have one of the two make it to their respective CWS than neither one make it.

Are you melting?

I’d rather be great at both.

But it’s not like Alabama isn’t trying to rebuild the baseball program. They’ve spent over $60 million in facilities enhancements for the program. Brad Bohannon seems to be a solid head coach as well. He inherited an absolute mess.
