So what gets more attention to a desired effect. Player safety or rule change for what he sees as an unfair offensive advantage? This is not new to Saban or Beliema, this tactic is as old as dirt. everyone including you use it to one extent or another to gain leverage in your ability to be successful at your job, gain a raise or whatever is important to you. Is it u safe in one sense sure but so is the game of football, but that gets the rule looks at an attention to what you want. He has planted the seed, now some kid gets hurt from what can be deemed as exhaustion it gains traction. When in all.likelihood injuries happen. It's just smart business.

It doesn't give the offense an advantage. The O is at an inherent disadvantage in the sport itself.

Absolutely all those personal fouls for hitting defensive players in the head with your hand that are called all the time. This is very debatable. Do I think HUNH is unfair no; do I think it's Sabans job to find every advantage possible, absolutely.

The offensive players are hurrying just like the defensive ones. So everyone is getting slowed down at the same pace. Defensive players hurt more offensive players with hard hits than defensive players get hurt because an offensive player ran by them. So BB and Saban should be out there calling for Tag football since they are so worried about their players' safety.

No, it's not.

It's easier to stop a team from scoring than it is to score. That's the nature of the game.

All you've got to do is what Miles did with us prior to Oregon. Run two offenses as fast as they can go till the defense is starved for oxygen. Then keep going.

By the time of the game... that shite's shut down. Whining about hurry up is just that... whining.

I remember when we had fat, slow Linebackers.

As long as the Ref's enforce the rule to sit on the ball so that if the offense subs the defense can sub then no problem. Catching a team in a Bear front and running slants down the field with no subs isn't football its taking advantage of a rule because your team is inferior which is what High school coaches IE Freeze and Malzahn do best.

So I guess running your fastest WR down the field to catch a TD isn't football either if the other team's inferior CBs can't run with him?

Taking advantage of the other team's weaknesses is football and is what all coaches do.

Way behind ON this debate. It is u understood.it isn't necessarily player safety that just gets the opinion more recognized. Argument now which shouldn't be an argument is people upset because Saban is doing what he is paid to do. Lobbying to gain an advantage for the defense.

Who said that? You took half of what I said, the SEC was no enforcing the proper rule last year regarding subs.

Why is Nick so scared about it. I'll tell you why. He saw a team that went on winless SEC streak for two years come in and smack his team around a little.

It was your lowest yardage total on the season. Our defense was playing a hell of a game, but our offense turned the ball over and our special teams gave up field position.

Wallace doesn't throw three picks and Jones doesn't return a kickoff for a touchdown, and y'all probably win by just a touchdown or less.

Nick ain't an idiot. He knows that game was much closer than the score suggests. Nobody's denying that Alabama was the better team last year or is the better team this year, but you and I both know that Saban isn't stupid enough to treat our game - or any game, for that matter - as a given win. He's going to do what he can to get an advantage strategically. Don't be a bitch about it when we call him out for it.

No where in your entirely too long reply did you justify the use of the "smacked around" language which is what I really took issue with. How do the stats lend themselves to us getting smacked around at any point? In addition to that though, please, please don't let one season in which you wildly exceeded everyone's expectations make you a delusional fan: that game was not closer than the score suggests. If we broke it open during garbage time, you would have a point, but having shitty special teams and turning the ball over aren't two things that are acceptable excuses for a large point difference. The game way EXACTLY as close as the score suggests.

Nick came out of that game rattled. That's when he started this whole mess about fast offenses. He saw something that concerned him and it wasn't player safety.

Points per play.

Alabama is #1.

Ran over 20 plays less than A&M and Oregon.

Sure, any buffoon can fire 100 rounds wildly and hit the target a couple of times. I'd rather be efficient.

You are arguing semantics and not the point that Nick came out of that game concerned. Regardless if you or I think that they got "smacked around" or not.

What is your point? What does this have to do about the topic on player safety?
