Kansas City, MO and St. Louis, MO TV markets. $$$$$

MU is one of only 34 public U.S. universities to be selected for membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU)

You may or not know this but Mizzou is a top 30 program in football since 2005. We have our bad years just like everyone but we have been within one game of the national championship 3 times since the beginning of the new century. Yeah we choke every time but at least we put ourselves in the spot to choke.

Also we are 6-1 all time vs Ole Miss in football. Ole miss brings absolutely nothing to the conference. So this is a weird thread to make for an Ole miss fan. I could see it from other schools... but an Ole Miss fan asking this question is just silly.

Putting Auburn in the East doesn't work with the current scheduling paradigm. However, since it appears that the NCAA will do whatever the big leagues request with regard to rule changes, the SEC should ask to have the rule changed to eliminate the need for divisions to hold a conference championship game. Then, the SEC could go to a scheduling system like they use for basketball, where each team would have 3 permanent opponents, then play 5 of the other 10 every year (and the other five the next). That solves most of the complaints about Auburn not getting to play the schools they want to play, and eliminates the geographic absurdities of the Eastern division.

Missouri would probably play A&M, Arkansas, and Kentucky every year (or something like that), and it would let the new additions feel more integrated into the league by playing all the other schools (not just their division partners) over the course of two seasons.

Certainly would hate to lose a school known for overt racism and Patagonia vests.

Only in football but not basketball nor baseball, so not really. Despite their recent record against TAMU and having very good football teams in '13 and '14 they wouldn't have won the West yet either. Second at best.

Exactly. With an odd # of schools, 1 team would have 1 less conf. game each year. Or 1 team would play 1 more conf. game each year.

Simply put, TV money in the midwest. I like Mizzou in the SEC. It adds a whole new dynamic. I disagree with them being in the SEC East though. They need to finally push Aubrun over to the east and take Mizzou in the west.

&, as we've pointed out every time, Auburn east creates more problems than Mizz. east.

I'll stand up for them. They actually bring southern culture and are you know, actually Southeastern. Statistically maybe they don't help us, but it isn't the SEC without Ole Miss.

No divisions requires many tie-breakers to rank people due to lack of common opponents that is NOT a problem with divisions.

In Missouri's first 3 years they made the SEC Championship game twice. That's two more times than ole miss has since it was started.

Money talks. Having two Mississippi schools seems redundant.

I understand this. Trust me, I do.

But you live in old times. Things change, and its shown time and time again that the people who hate change the most, generally come from the south. The moves the SEC made were to improve the conference via TV markets and revenue. Moves likes these insure that the SEC wont be left behind, and also, has the most control it can possible have. So you can say but my culture, but then you'll be left behind. And it gets lonely.

A lot of people seem to not care about the actual conference, and just care that its southern.

We should never have expanded. Wish we were still 10 teams with a 9 game round robin.

Move the cow college to the East and 10RC to the West. Nobody in the West gives a shite whether they play AU. The barn take the place of 10RC as far as Bama playing them every year.

We are 6th in enrollment in the SEC with enrollment going back up to where it was, so we could move up to 5th or 4th pretty soon so this joke is getting pretty old and makes people look pretty misinformed but you keep throwing out those old jokes that make you look intelligent.
