Bill Curry was not fired.
But I think Auburn or Tennessee is based on age. For me, and especially during the 80s, Auburn was BY FAR the bigger rival.
And the changes they tried to force on him are no doubt a direct result of that loss. So you aren't wrong in Auburn being a much bigger deal at that time.

Tennessee only has 2 legitimate national championships in their entire history

At least we don't claim a 1941 like the third place SEC team that year. We had a season where we didn't give up a single point that wasn't awarded a "national championship."

"When you take away the seventeen year period in which we went 1-16, things are ackshually pretty even."

1941 is Alabama's one bullshite claim. It makes up 6% of Alabama's total claims. It was claimed to mock Notre Dame, but IMO it was based on a math poll when the AP was the standard. So I do not claim it myself and wish Alabama would stop.
Tennessee claims 6, 4 of them are bullshite. That's 66% of your claims.
1938 you finished 2nd in the AP.
1940 you finished 4th in the AP, and that was before you lost your bowl game. Bowl games then don't count, but you can't even retro claim because of the bowl game.
1950 you finished 3rd in the coaches poll. But you weren't undefeated, you lost to Miss St that year. You did win your bowl game, but it still doesn't count.
1967 you finished 2nd in both, you went 9-1 in the regular season and 9-2 after the bowl games(didn't not count in 1967).
None of these are legit claims. None of them had a year where you didn't give up a point either, but some were close. Those must have been some crazy defenses to watch.
66% of the national championships Tennessee claims are completely fictional. You got close. I'm not even sure how many Alabama would have if "close" was all that mattered. Do you think we should claim 1966? We won the NC in 1964 and 1965, went undefeated in 1966 but finished 3rd in the AP because Michigan St and Notre Dame tied.

Without Saban, yall are nothing
Bama leads the series 61-40-8. That’s a 21 game lead for the hillbillies that don’t math. So take away the 16-1 Saban era, it’s 45-39-8. So we’re taking away the program’s best era, and Alabama still leads the series by 6

We were undefeated and unscored on in the last 5 games. Totally a valid claim

We were undefeated that year at the time of the AP Natty vote, with our closest game being a 15-point win. The team that finihsed 1 didnt even play as many games as Tennessee lol. Totally a valid claim

1950
Shouldnt claim it

1967 you finished 2nd in both, you went 9-1 in the regular season
We ended the game on a 9 game win streak and should've moved up to 1 but the voters gave it to USC who was also 9-1 but lost to an unranked Oregon State team lol. Totally valid claim
We also could easily claim 1914 (undefeated), 1927 (same record as the teams that claim it), and 1939 (undefeated and unscored on at the time of the Natty vote).

National championships are awarded and you don't have a valid selector. The AP voters did not vote you #1, which was the standard of the time.
Alabama has seasons like that, doesn't claim them. That's just what it was, and why the BCS was a big improvement.

This would probably a valid claim because that's pretty much what many people do from that time period. But it would help if you had a math poll.
I think Vandy can claim 3 that way IIRC.

Tennessee also had more Prop 48 super retards who could run real fast and tackle real good that couldn't get accepted into other SEC schools. Spurrier had Gator Club circuit jokes about it.
