When they first announced a 4 team playoff, I figured they were going to take the top 4 from the BCS rankings.

That's what they should have done instead of this committee nonsense. Got rid of the Harris Poll, bring the AP back in the fold, and use the BCS standings to inform playoff and bowl selections.

I still think a 8 or 16 team playoff would work this year

Have the opening rounds to play at higher seed home field. Semifinals pick up as normal.

Not that difficult logistically, rewards the Group of 5 undefeated teams with a shot, and should and would be a money maker.

I wonder how close Notre Dame and Ohio State are (numerically) in the BCS ranking?

Keep the playoffs at 4. It is supposed to be hard.

i kinda have a feeling that if florida loses the SEC championship and cincy wins out, you'll see cincy jump aTm.

I just want to see #1 vs #2. Don't care how it happens or who it is.

If you take out the human bias polls from the BCS, and go old school BCS, would Ohio State even be ranked?

I don't remember all of the inputs but Ohio State is #2 in Sagarin and #4 in the Massey Composite so yea they'd be in about the same spot.

This has to absolutely be heavily manipulated once again by human bias, and not stats/metrics still

There is no way a computer is going to tell you a team with half the wins of others is better

Only something with pre-conceived bias could produce that

I just posted the Strength of Record numbers and Ohio State is #6 in that - behind A&M, Florida and Cincinnati.

The problem with a lot of the computer stuff is they don't look at how many games you've played. It's not an aggregate of good stuff, I guess is the better way to put it.

They had a chance to play Washington and turned it down. Sounds like a BYU problem

I agree when it comes to rankings, but could you imagine the past two seasons having to leave out an undefeated team from the championship game. Last year would've been an all time melt from whoever got left out.

If Ohio St misses another game, doesn’t play in the B10 championship game, and still goes to the playoff, it’ll be like Lexington Ky nationwide

BCS looks to give no big bias to P5 over G5 by virtue of the label.

Two loss Iowa State only one spot over undefeated Coastal Carolina and not as far a gap between them and the one loss Ragin Cajuns, who beat them by double digits.

Cincy, Marshall and Tulsa all ranked higher by BCS than CFP.

I don't look at BYU as a G5, because let's be honest, if it weren't for their Sunday issue, they'd be in the PAC 12 or Big 12 already.
