The Rant Has Spoken.
Julio, Ingram, and McElroy have gone from overrated, to irreplaceable in the offseason.

Bama has a green QB, so SI is dead wrong.
There...that took my about 10 seconds and I didn't even have to read the article.

Yeah they were BenchMcElroy, Stone Hands, and the 2nd best running back on the team while playing at Alabama. And now they're irreplaceable.

So the record in 1992 is indicative of what you're going to do next year?
And if we're talking about preseason polls I need something more than, "this is the formula we used nearly 20 years ago" argument.
What if the same formula was used just 2 short years ago? Do need something more than that?

I hate bama and hope they are preseason and postseason #120 but your argument is like saying not team who gets trampled for over 450 yards rushing by one team should be preseason top 10
Your argument =

So true. I remember everyone saying TR wasn't as good as Mark, and Julio was one of the most over hyped players of all time. Now, people are saying that they will never be able to be replaced.

All Bama needs from a redshirt sophomore QB is not to lose the game. With TR at RB and the OL, Bama shouldn't need the QB to win games for them.

Proven quarterback makes OU the easier preseason choice
wrong, easy schedule and lack of a championship game makes it easier for them to be undefeated. not the best team in the country.
Basing a preseason ranking on the ease of schedule might be smart if you own a magazine or something and your predictions of the future matter but realistically, schedule should not diminish or help a team in the preseason rankings or it incentivizes/disincentiizes scheduling tougher opponents. ESPN loves to be hypocrites concerning this however.

Yes because history is always the best indicator of the future. It's a preseason poll, so right away it's horrible IMO. But if they're going to exist I'm going to pick the team with the superior quarterback, which is OU
To be fair Bama's QBs are new, so nobody can really judge if OU's is better. To say so one way or another is speculation at best...and there's not a whole lot to base that off of right now.

The ones about Saban never winning 10 or more games two years in a row?

We had a piss poor defense, incompetent DC's, and a green Oline

Bama is going to face 3-5 teams this year that have enough talent to beat them. OU plays one. Returning their QB, OU is the safer pick.

Any team with a first year starter at QB has absolutely no chance at winning a national championship.
Just ask Tee Martin, Matt Flynn, and Greg McElroy.

Of course. And as I've stated, but many posters on this thread somehow don't understand, Alabama is one of the NC favorites. I'm simply quibbling over the most important position on the field. OU has a really good, prove one. Alabama has talent, but not much to actually base a preseason ranking on. Certainly the defense and running game will be strong, and make the job on the quarterback easier, but I'm just having to find something to distinguish and it usually starts at the quarterback position.

Again, this is a thread about a preseason ranking. Everyone should realize that being ranked in the top 5 means that everyone that knows anything thinks you can win a NC.
But if you want to keep making straw men to tear down on this thread feel free.

Whose saying they have no shot? Anyone that doesnt have Bama #1 have them at #2. Go lie down.

Uh yeah. Just like it would be speculation to say Bama's QB is better than Landry. Which speculation makes more sense?
