Exactly. Every conference needs a Vandy or Wake Forrest for this reason.

And what's up with Arkansas blaming Texas for the end of the Southwest Conference? The Razorbacks took a better offer and left (good for you), but don't fool yourself, that was the beginning of the end.

So the destruction wrought upon SMU by Charles Wright while Texas received no punishment for similar actions had nothing to do with it...

You think Kentucky on the basketball end and Vandy on the baseball end wasn't a big part of the allure for the conference being able to float a year round SEC network?

I mean it is probably just football, but Kentucky helps. Also the SEC is probably the only conference who gives a frick about Baseball. Vandy or no Vandy.

CGSC Lobotomy,

You are frigging clueless.

EDIT: I mean, seriously, being lectured about "what happened" by people who weren't even alive when such events transpired becomes rather old.

sharing certain conference money's equally has nothing to do with socialism. college football is about as capitalist as it gets. "pure" capitalism has been proven to not work. the SEC is most definitely in direct competition with other conferences and having all of our teams financially strong is essential if we want to keep getting more bowls and NC shots. in other words, sharing TV money and bowl money brings in more money, esp over the long run, than allowing each conference member to get larger bowl payouts. ask the big 12.

A Horn fan calling someone else clueless is one of those perfect little moments you want to frame and put up on your wall to admire it for decades to come.

Dealing with Texas is a major reason Arkansas left the SWC. Yes, the SEC made us a better offer but back then everyone wasn't playing beach blanket bingo with conferences. We probably would have stayed, if only to maintain our recruiting ties, if it was just a little bit more cash.

We know for a fact that Nebraska, Mizzou, and the Aggies all blame Texas as a major part of them leaving the conference. Colorado might but they are probably too stoned to care bless their hearts.

Look... I like your head coach. Austin is a decent little city. But your team is conference cancer. You may not be thrilled to hear it, but if you ask the people that used to have to put up with you they will, to a man, agree that not having to deal with Texas anymore was a big reason to leave.

So you think "just football" was the basis for an SEC Network? Really? I get that football is pretty popular but some of you guys have to be kidding yourselves if you think people don't watch men's college basketball across the country.

Kentucky goes to the championship last year yet they contribute nothing to the conference?

Frank Broyles (you know, your athletic director) and the UT administration had a very good relationship.

Yes, we know that, but are their "facts" really "facts"? No, they were excuses.

Fact: Nebraska and A&M voted for unequal revenue distribution.

Fact: Nebraska and A&M blamed Texas for unequal revenue distribution.

Those don't add up, bub.

People watch College Basketball, but not SEC anywhere near as much.

Lets not pretend that Vandy Baseball is what put us over the edge.

And let's not pretend that "just football" got you a year round network either.

This is a new form of clueless even for you.

Simple math would dictate that you're a fricking moron just by looking at my profile.

I've said multiple times that I graduated A&M in 2000. Either I'm the world's greatest child prodigy and graduated college before my 10th birthday or you're a moron.

Most of your Aggie brethren on here are younger than you.

Congratulations on being 5 years old when Charles Alan Wright left the NCAA Infractions Committee, a full four years before SMU's sanctions.

Get a clue. Better yet, get a life.

So your contention is that Texas wasn't a primary causative factor in teams leaving the B12? What's your counterargument, then?

Wright had his hands in the infractions committee well after 1983. He has a hand in the following documents going all the way to 1999: FROM YOUR OWN SCHOOL'S LIBRARY

A more detailed explanation of Wright: LINK
