Yes. Next question.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't use the term "worried", I'd say we shouldn't take them lightly. They are an experienced team with a good QB, a salty Defense, and they are older than your average college players.

LSU would be dumb to take them lightly.

no way BYU can handle a physical team like LSU

Well, that may be a debatable point. Is LSU this year a "physical" team? Or is it a "speed" team?

Even with the 18 returning starters last year LSU got pushed around by teams that truly were physical... Wisconsin, Auburn and Alabama ... on both sides of the ball. The DL was pushed backwards on every belly play and the OL didn't pass block particularly well, though did better on run.

This has been the case for several years now... no true nose tackles, smaller D players and LBs. Frankly, LSU has been good against speed and spread but have struggled against power.

With question marks at DL and LBs (Key is out), if BYU can run the ball behind their older big OL, then they can theoretically cause some real problems because of QB arm.

Before the LSU purple-gold glasses types go off on a roster naming rampage, just listing names such as "Boudreaux, Thibodaux, Smith, Jones, Herbert" does not constitute making a case for comparative excellence against the BYU opposite number. The so called "best OL in the US" last year was a joke and contributed to the woeful offense performance just as much as bad Les Miles schemes.

Power teams ran the gut against the LSU D all year and it looked easy...despite the presence of Beckwith. Other than Key, no pre-season all-SEC discussion has included LSU D players, or WR or most of OL for that matter. That defines what is called "question marks." So spare me listing the roster and proclaiming excellence. And... no... LSU does not have all 5-star secondary.

Correct answer. The team and staff isn't underestimating them so it doesn't matter what we think. I think LSU potentially wins big but BYU certainly believes they will.

LSU gave up 3.28 ypc rushing last year. Only 7 rushing TDs. All year. All your 5* RBs had no TDs on us. Well Hurts had that one with the triple circle no holding call if you want to call that running up the gut easy on us.

We do have our question marks, but that isn't one of them.

Will this year be the same?

If LSU has no offensive creativity and BYU is a top 10 NY6 Bowl caliber team, then yes, it very well could be the same. If either of those is not the case, then it probably won't.

I think both offenses are lacking in terms of what they can do and will spend the greater part of the game slogging through the teeth (strength) of the other team's defense.

Talk to me when you're rated at all, s00ie. Why you piglets do all the talking that you appear to do is a mystery to the college football universe.

Well I didn't say they were the only physical team. Wisky, Auburn, and Bama are physical teams as well. Despite a few 300 pounders on O line BYU is not a physical football team overall. At least they weren't last year. I think LSU wil man handle them. Looks like we agree to disagree on this one.

If Etling struggles, you'd best believe we will see Brennan take the field. The coaches say he is ready and I believe them. All indications are he gave DE a serious run for the starting job.

Truth is, we don't know yet if we have a "Rosen" or not, and we may just have even better waiting on the bench as freshmen.

Etling is terrible. Why wouldn't you just go with the youth that has the upside over the proven mediocrity that you already know you have?

one is a 5th year senior, one is a true freshman. both will play. it doesn't take a genius to figure out why etling will take the first snap of the year

Different coaches have different reasons.
Everything is speculation, but my guess is the coaches think Etling has progressed enough since last season to give him a shot.

There's nobody between a 5th year Sr. and a true freshman that's even serviceable? Wow!

Point is valid (thanks Les), but technically it's a 5th year senior and two true freshmen.

(Brennan, Narcisse if he doesn't RS)

Not to make excuses for them, but this was a pretty consistent reason as to why Les was axed
